Hiya Eric,
It's great to see you here on the Café as the guest of honor. I have enjoyed reading your insight and advice to others and wish that I would have been able to spend more time with you although every time you're in the area I end up being m.i.a... I SO wish that I could make it to TRICS this year... That being said, onto my question. I think that portions of my question have been grazed upon but nothing direct. With much of your material being released now and a majority of it being workers, when did you realize (go about) that 1. you should start lecturing and 2. that your material should be commercially released?? How did you go about doing so?? Can't wait until we get to hang out again. Time to go work on my MacGyver Magic Challenge video as long as I can find my extensive collection of 8 track cassettes. Cheers, Justin

Justin,
you're another guy I want to thank for being a good friend for many years. To answer your questions: 1) I didn't decide to lecture on my own. I actually avoided the idea for a couple of years. People here on the Café asked me if I lectured and I told them that I didn't. It wasn't until my IBM Ring in Richmond, VA asked me to lecture and I did, but reluctantly. That started a snowball effect that led to me lecturing all over the U.S. and being fortunate enough to be asked to perform and speak at magic conventions. So to simply answer your question. I still don't think I should be lecturing, but am glad to hear that people want to listen to what I have to say. 2) Similar to with lecturing, I didn't think I was ready to release any material. Though everything I released is something that came directly from my working arsenal, I felt like the material needed to steep for another few years. I got a strong push from Tim Trono to release my lecture notes in a video format and to work with Kozmo Magic. I'm glad I gave in to this pressure, because after three years of hard work on both my part and the team at Kozmo Magic, I was able to release both Mirage et Trois and An Extension of Me, which is my opinion is one of the best looking magic DVD sets on the market. Justin, dude I'm waiting for you to put out your spongeball routine. I, for one, would be all over it if you released it....
