Was going through my notes last night with a deck of cards in hand(you know how it is)...anyway, I'm thinking that some of you have come up with these ideas as well, for a long time ive been fooling around with the Tamariz stack, the idea was to get into mnemonica from american NDO...not the european order. opening a new deck, bypassing the overhand shuffles and doing four straight faros to proceed into mnemonica. last night, I also memorized the outcome of four faros from NDO...so essentially, a memorized "pseudo" stay stay...
your thoughts?....thank you |

If you open a brand new deck in American NDO, here's the usual way to get into European NDO:
0) Leave the offer cards and jokers in the deck for now. 1) Hold the deck face-out in preparation for an overhand run. Run 15 cards (The two jokers and all the spades) and throw the remainder of the deck on top. 2) Holding the deck face-up, take all the diamonds into your right hand, without reversing the order. Now take the clubs one at a time, reversing their order, onto the face of the diamond packet. If you're doing this in front of an audience, you can justify the one-by-one club reversal as looking for the jokers. 3) Place the right hand club/diamond packet onto the left hand packet. Remove the offer cards (now between the KS and the AH) and the jokers (now on top of the deck). From there, get it into Tamariz order as you would a European deck. |

I don't beleive I have ever opened a new deck in front of an audience... Why?
If your shuffles are convincing they should believe the deck you are using is shuffled and mixed... |

I committed on Tamariz' Stack myself, but Steven Youell has this nice idea he detailed in his first lecture notes, 'Weapons of Mass Destruction', under the title 'Hacker Stack'. If you have it and studied Darwin Ortiz' 'At the Card Table', you'll be really pleased.

The easy method is to arrange the deck into the European NDO beforehand. No layperson will notice the difference. And if some playing card nerd (ahem...aficionado) does notice for some reason, there's absolutely no suspicion as the cards are simply in order. There's no need to specifically exclaim that the deck is in new deck order, it suffices to say that "the deck is in order/the suits are in numerical order".

Why? The most under-asked question in the history of magic. |
