Hi,
This one-handed method of second dealing is descibed in "Dai Vernon's Inner Card Trilogy". Can anybody do this well enough to use in an magical effect or gambling demonstration? In fact, are there any using it? Thanks, John. |

Although Vernon NEVER saw Chinese Seconds done by the original cheat, I can assure you they were not put in as a joke. Jack McMillen and Bill Woodfield (Later a Hollywood TV writer, and Charlie Millers' original collaborator on the Magicana column in Genii, which has a much longer history than most people know - but that's another story) knew the person in question quite well. He was a professional gambler in San Francisco, and Woodfield and McMillen sought him out. He showed the second to them and they told Vernon about it. There are many interesting stories surrounding this fellow, who was, to answer an earlier question, Chinese. Just one - Jack once asked him under what circumstances did he (the gambler) use a false deal. His answer? "I can't remember ever dealing an honest round."

Just so you know it can be done, I know Barry Govan can do this, I've seen (and not seen) him do it. It's an unsuual way to deal a card, but in such a way that a second deal would be out of the question.

Thanks,
Does he push the second card out, or does he just pull the second card out once the top card has been moved back? I'm just thinking what is the best wat to do it? Thanks, John. |

Curtis, I've seen Barry do it as well. It looks amazing. I'm pretty sure he pulls back the top card and uses the pressure of his index finger to flick the second card out.
Adam V - 9 out of 10 dentists recommend him.

I bring back this topic because I am looking for a source in video about this technique. Anyone knows where I can see this move in action?
Thanks in advance. greetings,

Rene lavand does a brilliant one hand second deal.
He lost his arm in an accident, so had to learn it one handed. |
