I'm really confused. Some questions about the TWIAD and the UWC Gimmicked Coin Sets: ============== 1. What do these abbreviations stand for? 2. Any videos demos of an example of a routine with each of these Coin Gaffed Sets? 3. Are there any books/DVD's that teach effects utilizing these coin sets as there are with the relatively new Triple Threat Coin Set? 4. What's the relative Cost of each set in Dollar (Morgan) sizes?? 5. Would the Morgan sizes be more appropriate to have or the smaller Walking Liberty (Haf Dollar)-sized coins? 6. What do each of these Gimmicked Coin Sets consist of? (You may PM me on this one if you are too reserved to reveal in a post.) ============== I have many Gimmicked Coin Sets of Todd Lassen's, but unfamiliar about these 2 sets. .
You know how to make God laugh?........... Tell him your plans!!!

Any videos demos of an example of a routine with each of these Coin Gaffed Sets? You can see with David Neighbor with his books Here comes the sun and moon for the UWC coin routine. For TWIAD there is a DVD SAMOA, but you can also read the routine of Roger Klause, SOleil et lune (Almanac Winter Extra 83/84) Quote:
Relative Cost of each set in Dollar (Morgan) sizes?? twiad about $210 and uwc about $510 |

I think UWC rather stands for Ultimate Wild Coin...

UWC is two gaffed coins and if you choose you can get two extra coins....it is a very versatile gimmick. You can also do all the TWIAD routines with the UWC Set.
TWIAD is basicly the same as a sun and moon set. Todd has machined them to a tolerance where it is undetectable. Soliel Et Lune by Roger Klause can be read in the Richard Kaufman Almanack book or watched on the second video of Roger Klause and Friends performed by Lance Peirce. The Sun and moon Routine is by Goshman in Bobo's. I think there are several other routines out there that can use these coin sets also. One is by Geoff Latta and the other one is on a video by Chris Korn. Don't have the video's immediately handy or I would tell you which vids they are on. enjoy, Mobius |

I have flippers from Schoolcraft (most of my collection), Keuppers, Lassen, and Johnson. Schoolcraft's are my favorite. The one Lassen flipper I have was bought second hand and I think it's older. I'm not sure how old it is, but it's not amazing like some other gaffs I have from him.
I pretty much don't even think about getting flippers from anyone but Schoolcraft now. Keuppers are fine---I don't want to say they aren't, but I just prefer Schoolcrafts (partly because I know how change the rubber bands with his system the best. The Johnson flippers I have (both Eisenhower dollars) were very poor quality. Because of that I go ahead and wait until I can afford the flippers from someone like Schoolcraft. ...for what it's worth. |

I believe that currently the best flipper is Bob Swadling's. It uses a new mechanism that requires elastic thread rather than a rubber band. My Walking Liberty version works great. It comes with a DVD that explains how to replace the elastic thread when the time comes to do so. It looks very easy.
I recently (6/30/12) received an announcement from Mark Mason stating that Swadling has improved his flipper. |

While I like the new so-called "Next Generation Flipper" coin by Bob Swadling, Joe Mogar sells the same thing in Morgan dollars made by Kreis Magic. Elastic thread used in place of a rubber band. And he has been selling them for some time now. The elastic thread is adjustable so you can change the tension on the flipper and it also comes with magnets so you can convert it to a magnetic flipper if so desired.
This flipper can be seen at http://joemogar.com/ about the third item down on the "Coins" page. I don’t own this but I know some who do and they insist it's the best available. Jim PS - And I just noticed that we are responding to a two year old question... Why did you do that Tony?! |

I know it's sophomoric and I feel guilty, but I still chuckle whenever I read a post about what TWIAD stands for. On the issue of the elastic cord, Mark swears that his is something new (on the order of the difference in Fearson's vectra thread as compared to regular thread). Since I don't have it yet, I can't personally attest to it's durability but if it is a fraction as good as Mark claims it is, I will be looking into whether I can use it in my existing Schoolcraft flippers. Durability and reliability of the band is really important to me. Perhaps Mark will sell this the way Fearson sells thread. Alan |

The flipper Mogar sells from Kreis is the best I've ever seen (and I've seen all the contenders).
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Is it just the durability of the band that you are referring to?
