I perform under the name Raymonde Crow, and I am pleased to announce the release of my book "As the Crow Flies," available at lybrary.com (http://www.lybrary.com/crow-flies-p-107634.html). It was formerly available on the website of my mentor, Scott F. Guinn, but since he has gone full time into the ministry, he has closed his website.
"As the Crow Flies" centers on restaurant magic, and received a very positive review from David Regal in the April 2004 issue of Genii. From Regal's review, "...let me say that if you are a restaurant worker or considering employment as a restaurant worker, full time or part time, this book is a terrific resource, and for the amount of information here you are paying next to nothing. Really." The book also received a positive review (4.5 out of 5 stars) from Bryce Kuhlman, official reviewer of MyLovelyAssistant.com (http://mylovelyassistant.com/reviews/view/702) From Kuhlman's review, "Crow has a knack for devising interesting themes to match his routines. Most of them are about something (other than a card trick)." The book is 99 pages with 281 illustrations, covering material such as: -ambitious card, with funny lines -an Okito box routine visible enough for large tables -a clean and easy torn and restored card (No pieces to ditch) -a ring and string routine, culminating in ring flite, without risking anything with a spec's valuable ring -copper/silver/brass. Ring in the gaff and end clean -my walk-around opener, an easy and fooling coin routine with funny lines -magic for children that appeals to adults and ends in give-aways -my handling of Charming Chinese Challenge, with an engaging presentational angle -a card to matchbox routine, featuring Steve Bedwell's Convincing Control Fold, a powerhouse utility move that will have you ditching the Mercury card fold. -essays and tips on working at a restaurant "As the Crow Flies" has been reviewed here at the Café (http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=66170&forum=110) The book also received a 9 out of 10 from Shane of Online-Visions.com. (http://www.online-visions.com/reviews/0706asthecrowflies.html) From Shane's review: "Throw in Crow's wonderful takes on working in restaurants, and this book is a must-have for anyone who is thinking about table-hopping for a living or who does it but is looking for more quality material or wanting to see how other folks do the job. "As The Crow Flies" is a great work, thoroughly enjoyable, and worth every penny." Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. |
