In answer to Turk and Dominque's questions, the Da Ortiz stack does use faro shuffle's to get into the stack from new deck order. There are two methods Dani puts forward; one to use at home and one that can be performed in front of spectators. However, personally I'm not particularly great at Faro's so I put the stack together by hand. Obviously you can't do this in front of spectators and, when you're first learning the stack it can be slow. I found it to be a very good way of learning the stack and it's properties though. Stacking the deck, shuffling it and stacking it again repeatedly let's you quickly learn your way around the stack.
As for Turk's question, you don't need Faro's to use some of the best elements of the deck. There is a section on switching the deck to a palindromic mirrored stack that does require the use of faro's to move back and forth but there's enough good stuff in the rest of the ebook that it won't feel like you're missing out if, like me, you can't do a perfect faro. Personally I love the stack and would recommend anybody with an interest in this sort of thing should pick it up. With a little bit of practice it's easy to know your way around it and, beyond all the things you can do with a stacked deck, it has some really great ideas built into it that make it worth using. |

Hi,
Are any of you currently working with and performing with Danny's stack? Would be interested if there are any thoughts on how you're finding it relative to Mnemonica (if you're familiar with both). I'm pretty familiar with both and understand the relative advantages of each (and am sticking with Mnemonica for the time being) but would love to hear from anyone that's up and running with the DaOrtiz stack in real world performance.
