Michael,
I really like your routine Okito Klinker in Volume 1 of your "KnockOut Coin Magic". Currently, it's the only Okito routine I use. What are your thoughts on using this utility device? Do you use it regularly? How about everyone else? Roth's Expert Coin Magic has alot of Okito routines. Any suggestion?

Hi! I never really got into coin box work. The ruotine that you are using is an extention of a basic three coins to box effect that I used to do yrs ago. The only other effect I have used it for regularly is the sub trunk mystery, using the box, and a copper and silver coin. Roths book is the definitive reference on the versatility of the box, and I know of nowhere else that you can find good topical material. Anyone else doing Okito effects, and what are the plots of the routines you use?

Hi Michael!
I remebered an effect or better the last sequence of an effect from you that was published in "The Looking Glass" (The Ghost; page 4 of the Winter 1996 issue). For all of you that don´t have the four issues of "The Looking Glass", it is the last phase of a four coins through table routine, where the lid of an okito box is used (and do yourself a favor and try to get thoses four issues). I was wondering if you have ever published the whole routine? If so, can you tell me where? Markus |

Good memory, Markus, that was a cool move. You can do any 4 coins through the table routine, starting with pouring them out of a box. The fun is constructing the rest of the routine yourself. Enjoy!

Some nice material in the Magic Menu of his as well. His booklet Okito Box Magic has some good stuff in it. Vanni Bossi also published a set of notes with a proper working surface attached as well a few years ago. He's got a nice slow motion, one-handed turnover that I have used on and off since learning it. Just a few other sources. Lee Darrow, C.Ht.

Thaks for those references, Lee. I didn't mean to imply that there are no other sources for Okito box work, merely that Roth re-worked box handling in ways that were never done before. As such, the material is very topical and practical. I knew Vanni back in Italy. Not only is he a great guy, but a top coin worker! Anything he put out is heavyweight! I have the original 1963 Oito Box booklet by Bey, containing material of Harvey Rosenthal and Ed McLaughlin as well, but I'm not familiar with the other material he released. Thanks for directing us to those sources!
