Hi Tom,
I noticed on your website you sell these. I just made one for myself and I am going through the Encyclopedia of Card Tricks section on this deck. Do you use it this deck much? and do you teach any routines on it in your book? Sean |

Hi Sean,
Thanks for the question. While I do make Mene Tekel decks, I rarely use them. My intensions were to market an unpublished Marlo routine that uses a Mene Tekel. However, with so many irons in the fire, I simply haven’t gotten around to completing the project. It’s just another one of those proverbial “to do” projects that remain in the drawer. |

Thanks Tom,
I am not sure if I will use this deck myself but it's fun exploring with it. I will definitely keep my ears open for when you get the unpublished Marlo routine out. Thanks again. S |

Nathan Kranzo has a DVD called Mene Tekel Miracles. Might want to check that out while you are waiting for Tom's work!

No problem Sean. His website is http://www.hismagic.com
He also sells Mene Tekel decks that are red/blue rough/smooth I couldn't find them on the site, but I bought mine in person from him at a lecture.

By the way, for all those trivia geeks out there (like me), "mene tekel" is taken from the Old Testament, Daniel 5:25-28. It essentially means numbered (mene) and weighed (tekel). This is from the prophecy in Daniel where a mysterious hand appears and writes "mene mene tekel pharsin" on the wall. This is also where we get the modern phrase "The Handwriting is on the wall".
Just more useless knowledge from my head to yours.

I'm a big fan of the concept. There isn't really one deck. It can re regular or marked cards, Svengali or not cut cards. Roughed, roughed red blue. This is what Marlo publishes a lot of work on was the Roughed Red Blue. But using just two normal decks and making up two Mene Tekel decks gives you some devastating options. There are so many variations.
I've used Mene Tekel deck in my stand up show for a while now. And for close up I've taken in many a magician with it. The EOCT is just the tip of the iceburg with the MT deck. Howard Lyons and Marlo both have great stuff with it in Ibidem and scattered throughout the literature there are dozens more.... Thanks for sharing Tom! All the best, Kranzo
