Whether on stage or performing close-up magic at an elegant private party, Whit Haydn combines his magic with the wit and charm of a con artist and the deftness of a pickpocket.
Caesars chose Whit Haydn to be one of the acts to open the new $60 million Caesars Magical Empire at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. He has also performed at Caesars Tahoe. Whit works on some of the world’s largest and most prestigious cruise ships—including the QE 2, the Norway, and the Westerdam. He has performed as the opening act for Jerry Seinfeld, Loretta Lynn, Gallagher, and many others. Whit has appeared on television in the United States, Canada, and Japan. You may have seen Whit on the Discovery Channel in the documentary Houdini—They Came to See Him Die for which he acted as a contributor and consultant. He has also appeared in a 30 part series on magic for the Canadian Discovery Channel called Grand Illusions: The Story of Magic and in the PAX Television series Masters of Illusion. He has worked as a consultant for David Copperfield’s television specials, and was the chief magic consultant for the Norman Jewison film Bogus starring Whoopie Goldberg, Gerard Depardieu and Haley Joel Osment. In addition, Whit has performed his brand of magic for many well known celebrities including Luciano Pavarotti, Rachel Ward, Richard Kline, Merv Griffin, Muhammed Ali, Steve Martin, William Shatner, Ringo Starr, Loretta Lynn, Cary Grant, Alan Alda, Karl Malden, Pernell Roberts, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Mel Blanc, Peter Falk, Jerry Seinfeld, Michael Jackson, Lou Rawls, Conway Twitty, Tony Curtis, Whoopie Goldberg, The Smothers Brothers, Connie Chung, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Crystal Gayle, Dottie West and others. Whit’s versatility, warmth and humor have made him a favorite even among his fellow magicians. The Magic Castle, Hollywood’s world famous clubhouse for the Academy of Magical Arts, honored him with three academy awards— "Stage Magician of the Year" and twice as "Parlour Magician of the Year".. For fifteen years, the magician members have named Whit among their five favorite close-up artists at the Magic Castle, where he continues to be one of the most popular performers. Top professional magicians from all over the world have performed Whit’s original published routines. He is the author of several books and videotapes on magic, and is a frequent lecturer at magic conventions and seminars in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Whit Haydn teaches a popular ‘masters’ course known as the School for Scoundrels for magician members of the Magic Castle. This course concerns the famous street swindles such as The Shell Game, Three-Card Monte, and the Endless Chain—the subject of Whit’s forthcoming book, Unfair Advantage.
