A couple of years ago I managed to memorise the mnemonica stack using the loci system. I was surprised at how easy and workable these memory systems are. I now want to memorise more things.
does anyone know of a book that details a system that I could use to memorise an entire dictionary in a way that would help me recall individual page numbers, entries and definitions? I know the basic memory systems where I can associate a number with a playing card, but anything more advanced than that is currently beyond me. |

Harry Lorayne's memory books would be a good place to start.

Before you start memorizing he dictionary, Laura, Shel Silverstein has a warning for you.
;) For larger amounts of information, there's the Self-Enhancing Master Memory Matrix (usually referred to as SEMMM, or just SEM cubed). Assuming you already have pegs for all the numbers 0 through 99, you learn a second set of 100 peg numbers. This second set is used in a way that gives you 10,000 distinct pegs! Here's a great site for learning about ...... systems. |

Word-a-day!?
Seriously, the entire dictionary?! That is an impressive feat, even for a memory grandmaster. Please tell me that you have tried your hand on a dictionary book test and some spectator had the brilliant idea to check your memorisation claim by demanding you to provide the meaning of a random word... That would at least make me understand the "why?". |
