Good question, but this could be a while as I have a veritable library of wide-ranging books. In terms of magic, I've studied the classics and modern texts and find inspiration in all of them.
I also have numerous books on politics, religion, science, logic, rhetoric, critical thinking, philosophy, psychology, history, sports, nutrition, fitness, marketing, promotion, advertising, financing, humor and many more. Strangely I have very little works of fiction in my library, after being forced to read them as an English major. Especially strange that one of my regular clients is Dean Koontz. But he doesn't need to know that little fact, now does he? Ask me some day about the craaaaaaaaaazy Book Test I did at one of his private parties with his large collection of titles. The real trick for me is to engage and incorporate. Never was big on being a bench warmer or an arm-chair athlete. My thinking is that any self-respecting man should have a firm knowledge base on a wide array of subjects and be a life-longer learner. Also, furthering our education doesn't have to mean dusty classrooms or dry textbooks. For me, learning is entertaining and fulfilling - especially when taking it past the halls of academia and putting it into practice in the real world. For hundreds of years, a well-rounded education was the mark of a gentleman. Bacon writes, "I have taken all knowledge to be my province." While Marlowe encourages us to have "aspiring minds" and to climb "after knowledge infinite." Aristotle writes, "All men by nature desire knowledge." Jesus says to love the Lord your God with your heart, your soul, your strength and your MIND. And best of all, these wide variety of subjects will make our magic presentations more entertaining, captivating and meaningful. Lastly, I need to catch up and immerse myself in the subject of technology. It's all around us and I've somehow managed to avoid it. Now, which button do I click to send this message? |

Oops, AGAIN, after re-reading my post! Make that a life-long learner, not a life-longer learner. Now that is some delicious irony as I talk about being a learnerer from one of the gooderer kolleges in da land.
