Patrick Page's "Magic Page By Page" book was released recently, review thread here:
http://themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic......um=110&5 I think this is on a par with The Amateur Magician's Handbook, The Wilson Course and other classics. It's an absolute cracker. Loads of material and great teaching. |

G'day Volto
I have ordered this book before Christmas and am expecting it to arrive down under soon. I have some of Patrick Page's other products (now being sold by his family) and I have been very happy with what they offer. One effect that I am most impressed with is a clever bag, "The Money Bag", that enable me to perform something similar to the misers dream - it is worth looking at. I will come back and make a comment on the book when I have had a look at it. Bob Latta (aka Troppo Bob) |

Well not to take anything from it but page by page is the next levle to this. Its a little bit of every thing and some great notes and ideas on magic.

It's deceptively simple, too. A lot of Page's material sounds a little dry written down; it's only when you perform it (or better still, have video of him performing it) that you realise the genius of the man. It's the subtleties you only notice once you start performing the routines. A lot of stuff is 'proved' in a very casual way and timing seems key to a lot of the material. Quite a few of the sleights aren't even really sleights - they're blatantly obvious actions, just done with good timing and cover in a perfectly constructed routine.
His silks routine, for instance, is just brilliant - but written down, you could easily overlook it as 'obvious'. When you see him performing it, even when you know exactly what's happening, it's easy to be fooled. That's what I'm working on at the moment. It's performable, but I'm finding that getting it smooth is the hard part. It's a beautiful routine though - nice and flashy, and it fits in a pocket. |

Hi Everyone, thanks for the great comments about the book. We also have a DVD of a lecture my Dad gave for magicians, which has many of his routines (including silks!) See http://www.patrickpagemagic.co.uk) products page, for details.
