I know Rick's comment is from 15 years ago, but it hasn't been corrected; so...
He said "You say that "the only difference is that you put coins on the three cards." Not so. In addition to the coins, he has the spectator pick a number from one to ten and the chosen card is found at that number from the top of the deck (when it is presumably under one of the cards with a coin on it). " Exactly this is in Royal Road. I'd add this; the original was published in a booklet by Farelli; he used a coin - although on the final card. Which I think makes more sense. To be clear - I love Close Up Card Magic; and I think it is clear that, at the time it was published, historical crediting was not recognised as such an important issue. Harry tried to address this in Classic Collection. i just wanted to add the Farelli connection. |

Just started to re-read this great book and I'm toying around with the STOP! trick using the penguin marked deck. It enables me to take all of the risk out and also call out the exact pile where the card is in after the dealing. It's quite easy to know exactly where to stop them at using this simple idea. The only trade off is not having as much distance away from the cards but that doesn't seem to take away from the reactions much.
Pick a card, any card at all. Just don't pick a RED spade.
