But wait! This is impossibe! A spelling effect cant be any good, All the new young guys say so! Spelling tricks are terrible! Audiences don't like them at all.
Michael Vincent, Harry Lorayne, Mike Skinner, Roger Klause, David Williamson, Dai Vernon, Simon Aronson must be wrong.

Lol... I actually agree to some degree with you. Audiences are not as impressed with a spelling trick as they are with... I don't know, an ACR or color changing deck. I think spelling tricks -- such as Controlled Spelling, or Intuition Speller (let's not get into arguments) -- need to be built a lot to emphasize the impossibility of the effect.

Unfortunately, magicians are the ones who appreciate spelling tricks in its entirety.

Oscar

Yeah, I'm not a fan of finding a card by spelling. On the Scale of Sheer Impossibility, it falls one rung above a selected card appearing printed on a hanky.

But more power to the magicians who make it work. Horses for courses.

As a rule, I hate spelling tricks, but Intuition Speller is one that I will do, particularly with a borrowed and shuffled deck. For the owner of said deck, it is an astonishing reveal.

When I would perform it with my own cards, the response was always somewhat muted, which is why I only do this with a borrowed deck.

I totally agree with you. You have to do this trick with a borrowed deck, shuffled by the spectator, of course. It's a must to get all the mileage of this effect.

I loved this effect so much that I even worked a way of doing it in Spanish (my 1st language). This effect works wonders for me.

One of the strongest (meaning strongest "jaw dropping" reactions from laymen) routines I do is my Greatest Card Handler. (Which I've described in a couple of my books.) And it's based on SPELLING.

OMG I hadn't seen this effect before. I found it on YouTube Gosh, what wonderful trick. I loved it! Where can I find the latest update of this trick, Harry?

This reminded me of the beauty of Finnell's Free Cut Principle.

I know! Most of the good material is out of print... Sad that I got started late in magic.
