Take some time and check them out, smiles ahead! Some folks have contacted us about roommate possibilities, we will do our best to help with that. Sharing a room is something I often do at conventions, and it makes expenses more affordable, and stretching a dollar these days is pretty important! If you are looking, email Tami at TamiDaniel@KIDabra.org and she will do her best to send a possibility your way. By the way, pets are not allowed at The Music Road Hotel and Inn. However we do know pet friendly hotels in the area, and we are happy to point you towards them. Congratulations to KI member and lecturer Mike Bent for making the cover of Magic Magazine for July and to KI member Joe Romano for his article on School Performing in the August issue of that same periodical. The KIDabra Journal News At the conference I'll spend a few minutes Thursday Evening sharing and showing you some of the cool ways to open and store your KIDabra Journal. The PDF version for me is my hands down favorite. You download it once, no password needed and depending on your computer, tablet or mobile device it's ready to read wherever and whenever you're ready. The current issue of the Journal features the charming, friendly and very approachable Dave Andrews. Dave entertains the daylights out of his audiences and he's good folk. No airs about him! He comes off as a talented, real person! I like that and I think you'll love meeting Dave at the conference. In the next issue 7.5 you'll celebrate with another talented and super nice guy, Steve Axtell! Plus, The 2012 Yearbook is coming with a gorgeous cover by yet another gifted fellow, Angel Contreras! Thanks to the KIDabra Journal Team: Tami; Designer Jessica Friend; Covers by Dean Allen Carnegie; Editing and Proofing by Santa himself, Tate Elliott; the amazing interviews from Skip Way; SPS Publications; and the incredible KIDabra Journal Columnists, for making this very special magazine reality! Thank you, thank you! Watch your e mail inbox for the around the world delivery of your next issue of The KIDabra Journal! 2012 KIDabra Conference August 14 - 18, 2012 We are really excited about the 2012 KIDabra Conference! The Conference itself has a focus on the makeup of the show: the routines. It is a routines and ideas treasure trove! Discover the gold for your shows this August during the Year of Inspiration! (The fantastic "Inspiration" logo was created by Dean Alan Carnegie by taking Angel's clever KID logo from The Year of Incredible and building around it. Great work guys!) This years Conference dates are August 14-18 and we go back to our classic Tuesday Evening and Wednesday day start with Biz Builders and the Auction Wednesday night, finishing up with the Gala Show on Saturday night. Catch the Magic of Pigeon Forge While at the conference, If you're visiting the Pigeon Forge area for the first time, do schedule a couple of extra days, there's tons to see and do. It's one of those rare places that really has a magical quality that you fall in love with. Both Terry Evanswood and I have similar stories of coming to the area as kids with our families on summer vacation and being drawn back year after year. I equate the fun to my Northern US Friends of taking the all the sights and sounds of the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore and dropping it into the mountains and add in Dolly Parton. For Rollercoaster enthusiasts the brand new Wild Eagle coaster at Dollywood is a must do. 200 feet tall/ 3127 feet long the coaster's eagle shaped vehicles allow you to soar on it's wing tips as if you're flying through the Great Smoky Mountains. Terry Evanswood's Show is walking distance from the Music Road Complex and is a must do. It's a terrific show from one of the most talented and nicest guys around! You have to walk right by the Titanic half scale model to get to the Wonderwork's upside down building which houses not only Terry's show but the family friendly and fun Science and Physics exhibits. Restaurants are everywhere in the immediate area. The Mellow Mushroom, Cracker Barrel, Chik-Fill-a, Olive Garden, Japanese, and Mexican foods are some of my close favorites! Now I'll reveal a big personal secret, the Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinburg area is one of my favorite go to's for inspiration, and prop hunting when I'm building a show. Wandering up and down the strip going in and out of the amazing shops, restaurants and attractions is sensory overload in a good way! One of these days maybe you could talk Terry, Barry and I into a creative shopping tour. Wear good shoes though! And then there is the outlet shopping which is insane! I'm not just talking about for the ladies either, you should go on a whirlwind hunt like Jozo Bozo, Jeff Jones and my sons do for shoes and clothes:) Caution: The surroundings, the attractions, the music and the people may just be the magical mix to draw you back time and time again as well. Time well spent! The Music Road Hotel Complex hosts KIDabra Conference 2012 Great rooms, free parking, free wi-fi, on property water parks, pools indoor and outdoor, water slides, lazy river and more, coupled with an excellent free continental breakfast each morning make for a great whole family treat. A lot of folks say the Music Road is "like going to a retreat." We'll be housed in both the Music Road Hotel and the Inn with the Conference Center between. The Inn is only a few steps further from the free standing Conference Center, the Hotel is best if you have special needs, also half of the rooms at the Hotel overlook the river. If the whole family is coming pick the Inn for the most water activities, although no matter which building you're in, you have full access. The complex is located at Traffic light 1 in Pigeon Forge in a quiet cul de sac just off the main drag, turn at the Ruby Tuesday's Restaurant. Surrounding it for a mile in every direction are restaurants to please every taste and that huge Wal-Mart in Sevierville is only 4 or 5 minutes drive, not to mention every outlet store known to man. Call Music Road Toll Free at 866-615-6353 or 865-429-7700. and tell them you're with KIDabra. Every room night counts toward our reserved block and makes the conference possible.
