After all that I took the purple jacket and became the Joker for the adult party... Wonka for the Kids... Candy Factory in one area of the house... Arkham Asylum in another.
Yet, Wonka and the Joker I believe are linked. They have numerous affinities. Fun fun fun! I'm making a Harley Quinn giant hammer and Ping Pong Bazooka gun too

I've seen both. I definitely prefer Wilder.

I heard that Dahl's widow stated that he would have liked the Burton re-do. I saw both, but never read the book. Yet, as a screenplay, I preferred the original. Burton's version, while beautiful and technically proficient, lacked any passion or emotion. It was all special effects.
Gene Wilder was perfect as the likable madman in the original. And the Oompa Loompas were far better than Burton's CGI little people. Somethings are better left alone.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Yep, the original ompa lumpas were much better than the CGI crappy renditions

The Burton version is much truer to the story, and I love the story.
I like the Wilder movie better. A lot of the script is dark, but delivered with such a nice, delicate, light touch. I think it gives a better sense of paradox and irony.
