Hi all.
I am looking for a method for covertly ending up with a previously selected reversed card on the bottom of the deck in as direct a manner as possible. I am not asking for a detailed explanation; just the names of the sleights you would recommend and perhaps the names of the books in which those sleights are taught. Thanks! Kenn

Can't remember the page number but card control by Buckley has got a couple of reversals in there. There's one called "another reversal" that I've been obsessing over. You could use that then just cut the deck to place the now reversed card on the bottom, if that would suit your needs?

Hi, the Invisible Bottom Reverse, from Card Classics of Ken Krenzel might help you.
Excellent, but pretty hard book though (for me, I'm a beginner). Cheers, Sébastien. |

Half-pass with a single card, whether it's on top, middle or bottom of the deck.

RRTCM - flipping it on the side of your trousers - with misdirection, having put it there in the first place of course!

The other suggestions are cool of course but I have always loved the trouser bit. Now if you are uncomfortable with that, here's a couple of other ideas: Do Simon Aronson's Head Over Heels control then double cut the top two cards to bottom and you are set Any direct control to bottom such as the KBP/OMM or for example Aldo Coloumbini's ODLA Control and half pass I can't remember who to credit this to, but, I think I found it in Apocalyse: You can easily reverse a selected card to bottom AND reverse it simultaneously during the course of the shuffle. Another method: Control to bottom then do a riffle shuffle. Then do the reverse sequence from Dai Vernon's Seven Card Monte. Paul Harris and many others have used is tabled "half pass." |

It's sad that he needs sources to turn over a card secretly...

It's "sad"? How is it sad? Occasionally I run into people who weren't born knowing even basic sleights.
In any event, really sad to hear you're sad. |

There are several great ways of achieving this, some of which have been mentioned above. Here's my offering to the mix which I use regularly and have not yet been caught out on. The first variation is direct, and the second includes a "convincer":

You can force a card and have its dupe in the card case. Put deck in card case, remove w/ dupe face-up on bottom.
Really, if you give us an outline of the entire routine, we might be able to give you the BEST method for your routine and maybe even ideas for other parts of your routine.

Thank you all for your suggestions! You have provided me with a veritable multitude of ideas, and over the next few days (if not longer), I will experiment with several of them. One option that I came across flipping through my own existing library (which currently consists of 16 card books and some general magic texts, so it isn't very extensive) was the "deck turnover reverse" from Card College 2. I may not end up using it, though. Statistically, there is a good chance that I will like one of your suggestions better. I simply mention it here in case anyone gets curious enough about this subject in the future to want to add that sleight to their list of options. At any rate, I am very confident that I will find a perfect solution among the gems which have been offered, and I value everyone's contributions.

There's an item in Larry Jennings Thoughts on cards video where he does what I think is called the roll around reverse where the card is pulled straight from where it was inserted in the manner of a classic pass, while reversing the card like a half pass. It all happens in one motion and takes less than a second, though you could do it slowly if you want. Only trouble with the move is reducing the amount of sound as the card is controlled. but it can be done silently.

Hey CardStudent,
PM or email me sometime. I live in Greer as well and would love to meet up at the local magic shop. I tried to PM you, but your profile is not accepting PMs right now. |

Control the card to the bottom. Cop it as you hand the deck to be shuffled. Retrieve the deck and add the copped card (in opposite orientation).

Control card to second from top. Flip top card face up on deck, to show that selection is not there. Lift off top card with selection secretly face-down beneath it. With other hand flip the deck face up to show that the selection is not on the bottom. Place the double on the face of the deck. Turn deck face down. Start a slip shuffle until you have half a deck in each hand. Then weave shuffle these two together, keeping the reversed selection on the bottom.
