I'm working on a school program for grades 6-8 (ages about 11-14) that may be shown from a stage to up to 400 kids. One of the routines I'd like to include would be something that shows a quick and visual change. A color-changing silk would be just fine, but I don't know about from a stage all the way back to the last kid in the last row.
I thought I'd post this here since I figured most of you would have something about change from your gospel presentations. I kinda wish I could use one of my older favorites - the arrow that flips when you fill the jar with water. But the scope of view on that is actually pretty narrow. (It's the one I used about 18 years ago - has it been that long ago?? - when my 5-year-old daughter came up front to pray. That was a rush indeed!) And since this is in front of the "tween" age group, notorious for their ability to publicly dissect your effects with zero mercy, I'm at a loss for ideas that don't involve more obvious methods (like the Coloring Book, etc). So any suggestions y'all might have are most welcome. Ed |

I've done a color-change using a Palmo-gimmick with 18" silks for a crowd of 2000 in Kenya and it got a great reaction.

I've used this for years and it always get's "Ooo's" and "Ahh's" from the kids!
If you want quick and visual, this is it. You can probably get it from various sources, but here's one with a short video. It's not good quality video but you can see what it does. Very cool! http://www.goshmagic.com/color-changing-......4cm.html |

Guyactor, that looks pretty close to what I was thinking of. Thanks for the link.

You're welcome. Hope it works out. I don't know how much the shipping cost to the US is so it may be beneficial to look around.

I have been thinking about Schoppi's Color Changing Ties or vest for many years.
These days, it takes longer to make magical purchases. Lately I have been using a color changing eye glass case. Got it at a magic store called Target. The outside can be either blue and black, or red and black. Don't know if they are still available or not.

I use a red and a white 4" x 6' silk streamer with a palmo for a quick color change.

How about the Russian Color Changing Rings set to music?

I'll second Mark's suggestion of the Russian rings. I bring them out on the pretext that I'll do some juggling. Throughout the routine I say to my audience, "the question is can the Amazing John juggle three rings?" I end the routine by saying, "Juggling. It takes years of practice, dedication, focus...so I won't try to juggle these, instead I'll show you another trick." and I put the rings away. John
