I saw this on a book site recently. I was wondering if any performers had read it or had a look at it. It certainly caught my attention. I believe Mark Elsdon recently published a book around the premise of Sherlock Holmes.
Does anyone have any further information on either book? |

An interesting book. I would also recommend checking out the podcasts by the same author. Lots of useful presentation info for the performing mentalist.

I read the book and found it very insightful, especially the explanations of how people store and retrieve information. It has definitely made me more aware of how I observe and make decisions. It is a quick read and definitely a must for Sherlock fans. I'm sure the knowledge could be applied to mentalism.

I'm sure that many of the things that were presented in the book could be directly applied to mentalism. The section why multitasking doesn't really work, for example, could show how not to structure a routine to avoid confusion and at the same time how to use it for misdirection. I'm still processing much of the contents myself and looking at the notes I made. There is a great deal to think on.

This is my all time favorite book! I can definitely see how it can be applied to all things especially the ideas about perfecting your craft and how IQ doesn't matter. This book was how I first got into mentalism and is probably the reason I majored in psychology. I read it at a time when I was mentally ill and I couldn't read more than one word without putting it down. My brain health gradually improved and I learned how to apply what was in the book and now I'm writing one of my own!
