I've been wanting to make some of my routines have more than just 'patter'. Can a card trick have a an emotional response?
I know Copperfield does his 'Granpa's Aces', which lay people have actually mentioned to me. Have lay people rave about about a card trick made me think. Would they have liked as much if it didn't have the great story/emotional hook behind it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKkOXgefPYE |

That's a GREAT thing you are doing there!
You wont believe me if I tell you that I did the same thing (put an emotional pattern on the triumph trick) 2 weeks ago, will you? Haha Mine was about the power of belief...It still under work tho.. Great story! If you want any tips/advice, just lemme know -- "My magic may not be physically real, but it's emotionally real." - Derren Brown |

Well done...and may I suggest you add something to the revelation to tie together the effect with the emotional connection you are striving for...i also would not give the participant the option of keeping their notion to themselves...lessens the dramatic tension you are trying to enhance...i thought that technically the routine was very well done.

Thanks guys.
Pedrao Yeah triumph is such a great effect, it totally needs a presentation that fits its possible impact. Kaylan, I agree with the revelation idea. Which I have in fact been doing. If the card is a number like a 6, I will say "So maybe its will be 6 months/weeks/days until your goal is achieved." depending on what their goal is. I haven't yet thought what to do if it is a picture card. A guy called Jimmy-talks-alot also, suggested that I do a personal reading for them based on their card choice. This is why I started getting them to choose a visible card, rather say fan the cards and make a random choice. I need to do more research on card readings with playing cards. Joe |

Small hint, find a quite you can memorize that fits into the TV. Gives a nice bit of inspirational patter for what you are doing. |
