This has probably been discussed before. I tried using the Café search engine (which I find quite cumbersome) but didn't find any threads.
Which is you favorite palm or no palm card to wallet and why? I'm looking to buy one and any feedback (or a link to an existing thread) would be greatly appreciated!! |

The best Card to Wallet in my opinion is the Steve Draun's Real Man's Wallet. Why because it can be in any convenient pocket and it can be an everyday wallet. No jacket required. Kind of expensive, but a well made wallet.
As a side note, the wallet design and invention is that of a deceased Detroit magician that was sold through Magic Inc. way back in the 1970's, Bob Downey, an excellent magician and very nice person. He had an extensive instruction sheets that was more of a treaties on the use of the wallet. I wish I still had those instruction's. http://www.stevedraun.com/ http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S3204 There 2 version on the market, one by a magician and the other an India Copy that Mak Magic is the wholesaler for. I it much cheaper selling for around $30 depending on dealer. http://www.makmagic.com/product-popup.asp?prodid=P0936 The wallet is designed to look like a normal Bill fold wallet. I almost read your question meaning the best Card to Wallet routine. That is another discussion. |

I think I read that the Real Man's Wallet is difficult to load/use without the card being folded. Is that wrong?
Thanks, Steve |

I like the Real Man's Wallet but I now use Tony Miller's Badger wallet. It has a LePaul method (somewhat similar to how the RMW works) and it also has a Mullica insert. Two separate CTW methods - one palmed and one no-palm. Also the wallet looks like a LePaul wallet in general shape, but it fits fine in my jeans back pocket. Plus the leather has a certain feel to it that makes the Mullica method work better than most. I own a dozen and a half magic wallets (not all for CTW though) and The Badger is my favorite by far for CTW.
I just checked and unfortunately The Badger isn't available now at Tony's site. Nate Kranzo still has the page up for it but states it is "Temporarily Unavailable". I hope Tony makes more of these; I know he was having difficulty finding a comparable leather for it. If you see one on the "Tricks for Sale" forum, grab it! Here's the product page on Kranzo's web site: http://kranzomagic.myshopify.com/products/the-badger Thanks! Jim PS- Just as an FYI, Tony Miller also designed Steve Draun's Real Man's Wallet! |

3 that are easy to do and are well received are:
- Peter Marucci's - easy, use your regular wallet - Pimpernel Notecase & Hip Pocket Bombshell (prefer the former re: quality of leather) Prefer the palm, though.

I think Jerry O'Connell's Hip Pocket Wallet is the most reliable Card to Wallet commercially available. I have dozens of other wallets including The Real Man's and the Badger, but the JOL Hip Pocket is the easiest loading one I own. It's made of genuine leather, looks like a normal bi-fold, and the card appears from a zippered compartment. The design of the wallet ensures that it will always be in the proper position to receive the card without an additional guide. On top of that, Jerry's customer service and personal communication is beyond reproach. He's one of the nicest people I've ever dealt with, and he has a great reputation for putting out some of the highest-quality wallets on the market. Highly, highly recommended.

I've used it everyday for years, and no one's ever called attention to how strange it looked when I paid for groceries, bar tabs or restaurant checks over the years. In fact, I would argue there are stranger looking "real wallets" that don't even facilitate any magic at all. Ha. As a plus, it seems to work even better now that it's been regularly worn. Many "regular" wallets have the side pocket on one side for coins or business cards, but regardless, no one typically ever sees that side of the wallet during performance anyway. I personally don't make it a point to deliberately show both sides of the wallet after I remove it from my pocket. I simply take the wallet out, rifle through some of the compartment slots inside, and call attention to the zippered pocket. Everyone wants to see what's inside the wallet-- not what's outside of it. The fact that it doesn't require a slide is a bonus in my opinion. And the flap GUARANTEES it will be ready in the proper position to receive the loaded card. To me, that's extremely valuable from a worker's perspective. The resulting load is uber fast and hands can be shown completely empty before the wallet is removed from the pocket. I enjoy the JOL very much. I swore by the Real Man's for a while, but I believe the zippered compartment is more of an impossible location than the snapped compartment on the Real Man's. And I enjoy the fact there are many more compartments in the JOL to hold business cards, credit cards and the like for other magic I may carry in my wallet. The no need for a guide and the ensured positioning of the wallet regardless of what trousers/jeans you're wearing is extremely useful and practical. You are virtually always ready with this wallet. With the Real Man's, I could only perform it in more fitted jeans or trousers with shallower pockets. I had to be more mindful about what I was wearing if I wanted to perform the effect. That's no longer the case with the JOL. Just my opinion. RS.

Tony Curtis's wallet was my wallet of choice though a little large ,but now I use Card to any spectators wallet (the ultimate card controll utility device )because the card can be produced from the spectators or my own wallet,or from just about any thing big enough to hold a playing card.
