Hi everyone,
My name is Greg and I started learning some magic few years ago. I am particular interested in card manipulation and I had being planning a routine for proposal to my girlfriend. I had watched some tutrials and learnd a few moves from Jeff McBride, Jeff Sheridan, Eduardo Galeano, An Ha Lim, and Lukas. However, I feel that a complete routine still require a few more things rather than just indvidual moves. I am just wondering if there tutrial that would teach how to hide and steal the cards(I think only Jeff McBride teaches a little bit in his tutrial but none from all the others I have watched) I tried one routine but I have to keep proforming with one deck of cards which doesn't look very nice and sometimes is very hard to do with too many cards in my hands. I heard about TKO 2.0 and UCCU. It's good with coin magic but I wonder if it can be useful for card manipulation. and also where I can learn the "snowflake" while vanish the cards. Another questions is how do you pick a music that would fit your routine or the other way around? Sorry for all the questions and I am really appreciated with the help. Thank you |

Usually card manipulations are stage magic and are usually done with a distance with the audiences. Not sure what you have in mind to use it for your proposal. Are you planning to go on stage by surprise and then make the proposal? If you learn all the basic moves for card manipulations you can join them together to form your routine. There are tons of card manipulation acts on youTube that you can study and then come up with your own routine. Just like any act, make sure your act have the intro, build up, multiple mini-climax and the big climatic finish. TKO and UCCU are utility devices that can help you vanish and appear small objects. They are good for card. However, these devices are designed for (close up) card magic but I can think of a few uses for card manipulations. However, usually there are similar tools for card manipulations that fit better. The music should fit your style of performance. Some acts are fast and furious and some acts are slow and elegance. Think about your style and match up with the music. A good manipulations act take a lot of time to practice. What is your timeframe for your proposal? |

Still looking for music that would fit better(slow, elegance, romatic). The problem is there is something wrong with my right arm and I can't grantee 100% no mistake even though I have been praticing whenever I had the time. I might end up showing her the video with other small tricks. I know it might not worth all the effert to make the video but I really like the card manipulation(I admit it's for my own "dream" too lol). I think it's really elegant, magical, feels like the person actually have the power not simply rely on the tools and I want to share that with her. What kind of similar tool would you suggest? |

I proposed to my wife with a card effect.... It was very simple really, but effective.
I just had a blank face card and with elegant sticky letters it read; "Karen, Will you marry me?" It was during Christmas time, we were exchanging greeting cards/gifts etc. Then I reached in my pocket and retrieved a deck of cards. (She was used to me always wanting to show her a new effect so being very polite she freely chose a card. I showed her the rest of the deck and that the cards were all different. I then asked her to look at the card she selected. (a happy cry) anyway I had the deck of cards, "The Card" and the Christmas Card framed where it is proudly displayed in our living room. She thought it was very romantic and sweet. Just thought I'd share my story. David Paul
