I know the Ijets product range very well.
I own a few Boss v2 remotes, older Ijet remotes and the original Ijet USB. I don't use any of them in my show or any power point remotes. I run my show from a laptop and a Linx Tech remote system.

And all the remotes do work for you?
I read this short thread http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=11 Creating a remote with a range up to a 1000ft would be quite something. Quote:

FYI, I recently upgraded my Android phone to version 5 of the operating system (Lollipop, I know it's about a year after it came out) and tried out Best Boy. It works fine! I'm using one of those cheap Powerpoint remotes that I described a few pages back.

Ihmemies,
The Linx Tech system works with some software I developed and WinAmp. The problem is that Tablet/Android devices do NOT allow a USB serial connection while a Windows laptop does. So I wanted to help the Café and get a working system but I wanted to split the programming and manufacturing costs to make the system a USB HID devices that a tablet would accept. Only one Café member realized the potential. I personally use their evaluation kit with their keyfobs: I get over a 1,000 ft trigger. I push one button on that remote and my music plays, stops, fades out and my lights can turn On and Off. As Jeff said a PowerPoint remote will give you a better signal and larger range, or you can switch to an Apple Ios device and wait for the AudioApe remote to be delivered.

Not as far as I know. But the bugs I saw were with the previous operating system and went away with the upgrade. Also, they were not major bugs, more like little glitches or annoyances.

Hi guys,
i downloaded the free trail version and found the count-in feature missing ... i would like to know how you handle the missing feature, as I think it is crucial to have? thank you! rene |

What do you mean by "count-in"? Check the Setup menu, there are a lot of features you can turn on and off, maybe one of those is what you need.

Hi jeff,
it means that you can set a certain delay, so that you are able to press the play button, but the song starts after the set up delay. it seems to be more magical with that procedure to me, as the sound appears magically. there is a kind of time midirection at work. that helps to disguise that the music is triggered by yourself, if a hidden remote is used. ... but more important is that the triggering can be implemented in the routining, when the arm is hanging down naturally and no extra handling is neccessary and that means it makes a show more slick and professional to my eye. btw. I couldn´t find that feature in the app ... so again, I would like to know how you handle the missing feature, as I think it is crucial to have? thanks, rene |

Hi Rene,
That idea is a new one to me. It's not in Best Boy, but as the previous message said, you can easily use Audacity to add a bit of silence at the start of an MP3 and get the same effect. Jeff |

Axel hecklau is using that idea of hidden triggering since a long time ... he also speaks about it in his penguin lecture.
the mentioned workarround is the only solution that comes to my mind too, but is quite a hassle to get the timing finally right. having that feature in the app would be just sweet. have a look at 1min50sec at the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df9lNIwimkI it shows the whole thing in an ios app ... thanks, anyway! rene |

Well, all these apps are done by different individuals, so they don't all have the exact same features. But it's not that much more trouble to edit the mp3 itself and play it. There are just about as many steps as setting up the count-in.
The main thing is, do you want to use an Android or iOS device? That's the main decision and investment. The apps themselves are cheap. |

I guess BUYiJET finally found that their Android remotes don't work, that page is blank, with a message there are no products.

I got an email asking for help getting Best Boy working with the cheap Powerpoint remote I linked to on the first page of this discussion. Here are the instructions I put together that helped him, in case someone else needs them.
First thing is to check and see if your phone and cable work. Find a USB thumb drive, plug it into the OTG cable, and then download this free app to test it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai......er&hl=en It will tell you if your phone works (some older Android phones don't work with OTG). Also, when you plug the remote's receiver into the OTG cable, and then plug the cable into your phone, you should see the blue light on the receiver blink. Then turn on the remote and press one of the direction buttons. The receiver should see that you pressed a button and the blue light should stop blinking. And on my phone I see a box appear around one of the icons on the phone screen. Each time you press a direction button, you should see the blue light on the remote blink. If that's working, then go into the Best Boy app, click the Setup icon, and scroll all the way to the bottom. There's a "Program Keys" item on the menu, click that to get to the point where you can pick a function and set a button on the remote to control it. For example, pick Play/Stop and then press the button on the remote you want to start and stop a music track. The other keys are similar. |
