I know there is a specific recommended pattern for spraying an Invisible Deck, but is anyone actually making/marketing them?
I'd like to have one, but I'm not keen on spending $100+ for the supplies to make 20 decks when I only need one. |

Are you absolutely set on science friction spray to accomplish this? A friend of mine has it and it is a great product for many uses other than an ID. With the "stencils" that are included you end up spraying about 1/4 of the card rather than the whole, thus you can make a ton of ID's (but as I said there are many other uses).
If making an ID on your own is all you want to do. Pick up a can of Testors Dullcote spray (about $5 at walmart or any place that sells models and paint for them). I have used this for over 20 years with great results. Magic Shops used to (and probably still do) buy Testors, peel the lable, and put on a paper label "roughing spray" Hope this helps. Pm me if you need details on how to apply and such.

Yes, I've made MANY IDs over the years using both Testors and Krylon 1311, and recently experimented with PlastiDip. I like the feel of PD, but it tends to peel. I bought the SF version of Ambitious Card. It has the same feel as PD, but doesn't rub off (so far).
With 4 or 5 partial spray cans on my shelf, I really don't want to add a $100 one for an experiment. But I would spend 20 bucks or so to try it. Thus my question. |

My friend that has it, really likes it. There are templates that come with it so you don't cover too much (although I believe you will still waste some due to overspray that gets on template instead of card.) I think there is a lot more to the 100 price than just the spray too. You get a very well made case / card wallet to carry individual gaffs in (probably something that would market for around 30) you get a dvd with how to make certain gaffs and the routines to go with them - say another 40 worth there. And some specially pre made even cards. All in all I would rate the spray cost at around 25 when you take in all the extras. I am eventually going to have him make me a deck to play with and decide if I want to go all in, but for all you get and can do once you have it, I would say its worth the cost
