Hi All,
This video of me performing Prophet by Tom Isaacson was shot by a friend. Soundtrack credits Dana Hocking. This was executed with an old set of Paper-to-bill that I had with me for long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPabb4-ICdE Would like to have your opinion about this. - Best, Avik.

Looks really good! I think your there!
Not that I do a multiple bill switch but is the instant reset a Propfet thing or is it usually done with other versions? For a critique, perhaps to the turn over after the change a bit quicker to hide the gaff under the ungaffed notes?

It's the best new handling for an age-old gaff I've ever seen. Besides, you're correct about the observation you made. That turnover was part of the routine. However I had to hurry because the gaffed bills were in a bad position right at that point of time, and were almost coming out. I hope I covered it up well. - Avik.

I don't understand how this is different than extreme burn?
It looks good. I just don't believe if you showed 20 laymen this and extreme burn they would think there was any difference. I have heard it is more difficult than extreme burn. Is that true? Finally, what made you choose this over extreme burn? |

I had bought a paper-to-bill gimmick from a local magic shop long ago (may be 3-4 years back). The dealer in the shop demonstrated a really slow and not-so-good handling of this gimmick. Soon I lost interest in that gimmick and it laid in my box under a hell lot of other things for all these years. Last year I saw the Prophet DVD at my friend's place and he taught me the construction of the gimmick. And then all of a sudden I remembered that the old paper-to-bill gimmick which I bought from that shop long ago is constructed in exactly the same way as Prophet. I ran back home and tried out the effect with this old gimmick. It worked beautifully. I called my friend again and asked him to shoot a small video which you all saw in youtube. As far as the difficulty of Prophet is concerned in absolute measures, I believe it's quite a simple effect execution-wise, and practicing for a couple of days will just be enough to perform it. There are no knuckle-busting moves involved in here. I prefer Prophet over any other multi-bill change just because of it's simplicity in handling and the visual appeal. Let know if you need any more info. - Best, Avik

I remember Doug Henning performing Easy Money years ago on one of his TV specials. He did it with magazine pieces.
I later learned the effect, then I switched to "Dollarma." In between that and "Extreme Burn", I purchased and performed "Increases", "Polaroid Money", "Polaroid Money Outdone", "Slow Burn", "Hundy 500", and the list goes on till settling on "Extreme Burn" However, when I have some spare cash around, I always love to go back to "Polaroid Money Outdone", because I think the visual aspect equals or exceeds the others when it comes to barehand, in your face changes.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

I have a boat load of DVD's with these switches and still have not settled on one of them yet.
Anybody care to say why they prefer one over the other and help me make a final decission so I can get rid of some of these DVD's??? I keep watching them from time to time trying to decide which one to go with and then think about it for a day or two and go back and re-watch again.... |
