I don't know that there is a clear place to post this but here goes.
A few weeks ago I received a VERY long, rambling email purportedly sent by Jeff Busby. He was apparently upset about something but, frankly, I haven't gotten through the whole email. I thought for sure I would read something about it on magic websites but, so far, nothing. Anyone else receive this/know what this is about? Gianni |

This info has been discussed on the Genii Forum often. I was one of the named perpetrators. Whoo hoo.

I received one also. Some rambling about Richard Kaufman and other in Magic stealing from him. He may have had a nerveous breakdown.

Let's not delve into the history of some issue regarding Jeff Busby. I have not heard of any new offerings from him in quite a while and aside from his contribution to what we call "Card Warp", I can't say much about the guy's magic. He did offer stuff with great ad copy and seemed to have a good eye for what is worth marketing. The rest of what I remember is probably gossip.

Got one too. My question is....mine came with an attachment. So, if I download this, does my house explode or something? Just how ticked is he? Anybody else open an attachment?
Can anybody bring me up to date on him? How is his (physical) health. Does he have a catalog? Online store? Does anybody care?

I have also received a number of emails from Jeff Busby over the past several weeks. I assumed that he sent them to me because I was on his mailing list. In years past (over 15 years ago!) I purchased several items from Busby Magic. I never had a problem with him and always enjoyed a good customer-dealer relationship with the business. For a short time I received his newsletter/catalogue/mailings. I loved his reviews. I always thought he was painfully honest.
I honestly did not know he was still in business! I thought he had retired years ago. I have noted that Mr. Busby has very strong opinions and I have heard that he is difficult to get along with (not my experience). I do know that he is recovering from a recent stroke and that some individuals made some very unkind (and in my mind, inhumane) statements about him during his illness. There are many people in this world that I don’t agree with and whom I don’t personally care for. I would never make the comments “hope he dies!” and the like that I have seen made by some of Mr. Busby's detractors (and some of these are so-called "names" in magic!). Sadly, I have lost a great deal of respect for those individuals. I also do not care for the name-calling and acerbic sarcasm that Mr. Busby has lowered himself to in his emails. I believe it demeans him. I understand that individuals who once had good working relationships and perhaps were even friendly toward each other can develope irreconcilable differences. I would hope that they keep it private. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by the public “mud-slinging” and little else to be gained by us stirring it up here. There is even less to be gained by taking sides in argument especally when we can not know the facts of the matter.

The e-mail itself brings you up to date on his health if you read it and the attachment, depending on which e-mail you received is either a picture of Jeff in his wheelchair or a picture of his premises. He also requests that you not discuss the e-mail elsewhere (whoops!) and that if you do not want further e-mails to contact him and be removed from the list. Harry summed it up nicely. Paul. |

I guess I am not privy to the e-mail. Could someone send it to me, or post the main points? Thanks!
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

I don't know Jeff personally, but have purchased some top notch high quality magic from him in the past: Takagi's four coin assembly, the one cup routine, Slydini's linking pins, Tommy Wonder Entertains, and more.
I know for a fact the man has high standards when it comes to effects to market. I too wish him the best.
