Malak,
Your response to the question was outstanding. I do not work with children much, but it does make me wonder how well that response would work with adults as well. Since everyone likes to be special in some way. It is a great way to deflect the question and at the same time make people feel exceptional. Sergeant |

Answer A:
"I know this trick" Thank Goodness someone does, I haven't a clue what's going to happen. Answer B: (For kids) "I know this trick" And you're not scared about the bit where I turn you into a frog? I'm impressed. -MM |

With out changing my mood or ways, I simply say "ok!" I put the cards back in the case and sit. Then I just continue my conversation as if it didn't matter. Well that was for casual perfomances. Fpr a paid gig , I would say... " ok, I guees I better skip that then and do something else" in the end the one who made the remark ends up getting blamed.

I have has people say that before and then I would just not do the trick. Unless it was infront of a lot of people. I was showing someone a card trick and I asked them to take outa card. Right away, they said that they have seen this trick before even knowing what I was going to do. Just go on with the trick.

First, Ignore them. Second, ignore them more.
If you fell you can't ignore them then I like Malak's answer "That's because you have magic inside you." I like being the nice guy. Avimagic makes in great point, He said "But remember this: I have found that a lot of the times when kids say they know a trick, they are not claiming to know the secret. Just the outcome. E.G., "I know that trick! You're going to pour the milk into the newspaper and then it's going to disappear." I must confess I never saw it that way. Thank you AVI. A few weeks ago I started to do the PB & J routine for a kids audience. A young boy maybe 12 announces he has this trick and starts to tell the workings of it. Because he REALLY did know how it worked, and was doing a great job explaining it. I quickly ask him to come up and whispered in his ear "do you know how to keep a secert? He answered yes, and I said "well, your not doing a very good job" The look on his face told me he understood and he sat quietly for the rest of the program. After the show I called him aside and give him a small trick to take home. He wasn't trying to hurt me he was just excited. It's nice to be the nice guy.
