I'm been asked to perform a recreation of Houdini's' Metamorphosis. I'm trying to be as accurate as possible. So far I've not been able to track down any footage yet. Seen lots of pictures. Anyway, here's my big question: Does anyone know what kind Curtain The Houdini's used - am pretty sure they did use a hoop curtain. Also any idea if they ever switched from using a Steamer Trunk to Packing Carte trunk? Thank you for any info you can provide.

There is footage of Theo Hardeen doing it, the old way. Can be found on Youtube I believe. No standing on top, I believe a stationary square four sided curtain, with an opening in the front center. Probably not what you expect, but it is what it is.

Thank you for those who have already responded to my post; THANK YOU!; even though I missed spelled a very important word.
I misspelled "didn't". So, I meant to say, " I am pretty sure they DIDN"T use a hoop curtain. Guess I shouldn't be posting questions at 4 AM ! I still hope to hear any information on their Trunk; Did they ever switched from using a Steamer Trunk to Packing Carte trunk? Did they ever change or improve the presentation? Thank you for any more information anyone could provide. PS: thank you for the You Tube link. |

4 am is a *** fine time to be posting.
Remember its 4am somewhere all through the day....Wasn't there a song using that premiss to justify getting drunk at any time of the day? The video in the link above was the one I have seen so I can't see the point of re-posting that. Have you tried the Houdini blogs for info and images etc? It's amazing what difference an n an ' and a t can make to a sentence isn't it! I don't think hula-hoops had been invented in Houdini's day so I gathered what you meant. P.S. Use of the apostrophe in formal written language is as important as correct spelling. It's a good job we don't give a f''' about proper use of them on this part of the Café. Heck some of us on here can barely type our name let alone create a proper sentence! That's me by the way! |

Dave, Joe Jackson once said, "Why waste time getting sober, when you just have to get drunk again?"

Thanks Dave for You"re / x!z!"Our'/ .'.-".--".-.-"--' // I mean, Your understanding(!) And the, check the Houdini blogs idea !!
Now at the risk of showing my ignorance, any suggestions where might I find a couple reliable ones? Now another question; probably should be posted as a separate post but, Does anyone know what pieces of music Houdini used in his shows? I read one of his favourite songs was "Pomp And Circumstances", but did he actually use this in his shows? Best Regards, Paul Albertson |
