- Phlye 3-FLY – Walking Liberty (Chastain Criswell) $400.00 (Prices from one of my favorite "brick and mortar" magic shops. I try to support them.)
- Cartel Coins – Morgan Edition by Chastain Criswell $315.00 I've searched "The Café" and found a few posts about these effects...not a ton of posts. The posts were favorable in terms of liking the effects. Some early versions of Cartel Coins had trouble with magnets falling off and having to be re-glued. So I guess I have 3 questions: 1) Do you like the effects? 2) Do you like the quality of the coins themselves (workmanship)?? If they are not Mark Mason/Bob Swadling quality or better, I'll stick to the less expensive versions. 3) A couple of people "think" that Roy Kueppers makes these coins. Can anyone confirm or deny that? Any and all feedback VERY appreciated! -Paul |

The Cartel Coins are very good quality. Made by Roy Kueppers. It is true that there was a problem with some of the magnets coming loose. Covering them with teflon solves the problem and makes the moves easier anyway.
The routine is good and cannot be duplicated without having coins like these. No shells are used. Any questions let me know. |

What about Phlye 3-FLY?

I have multiple sets of each, and the early sets had single disk magnets that tended to fall out. I've repalced all, re-gluing them with Loctite 401 adhesive. My Phlye sets came with ring magnets and all seemed to be very secure upon receipt. And yes, Roy Kueppers makes these for Chastain. At least he did until a year or so ago and I don’t have any reason to think that has changed.
I prefer the Phlye set as you can perform a great 3-Fly with it. I didn't really like the routines provided with the Cartel Coins, though you can probably work out some good routines on your own with the coins provided. I haven't bothered to do so yet. Jim |
