I saw a prop awhile back and I cannot seem to find it. It looks like a frame or box that has no front and back and you place a silk through a hole on each side and then you place a balloon in the middle of the frame and between the two silks and when the balloon is pope there appears a third silk that has now tied the two others silk together. Does anyone know that name of this prop or where I can purchase one.
Thank you, Derek |

I had one made by Magic Hands of Germany. They are no longer in business.

One place that carries it is MJM Magic (see below). You can also do a search for Balloon Silk Frame. I have had one for years and it does get wows. You could also do this by using 20th Century silks and attaching a ballon to center of it and have participant pop the balloon.

There are some for sale on Ebay at various prices. The cheaper models may be less reliable-perhaps someone can offer some feedback?

I forgot to mention, but I do believe there is also a model of "Balloon Silk Frame" that is currently being made in Italy? Unfortunately, I cannot recall the name-someone on the Magic Forum may know. I wonder why Magic Hands would have discontinued producing such a dramatic and popular effect?

Radamwarner, Magic Hands was sold at least 3 times before it went bankrupt. Much was sold to Mephisto Huis in Belguim. The glitter, cloth, and cardboard production items on the market are being made by the person who made them for Magic Hands.
The Silk Frame is still available from one of the previous owners of Magic Hands, that not lives in America and owns the website "Trick Supply". He currently list the Silk Frame on his site. http://www.tricksupply.com/product-p/silkframe.htm Hope this answers some of your questions. |

Dear Bill,
Thanks for the information regarding the Balloon Silk frame. I can understand why Hood, who began this thread, is interested in the effect. When I saw it performed as a kid, I was completely mesmerized by it. |

Just did a search on Mak Magic website, there are copies of this trick being made that are not Magic Hands. They have a calico and crackle finish on the frame. Magic Hands used the glitter finish in most all their props.
