Hi Phil ,
What can You tell Us about using music , and having to "plug" into so many systems around different venues ? Music is great , as long as everything goes to plan. cheers Wayne |

Hi Wayne.
Most of the gigs I do these days usually have a production company involved at the function. When they are booking me they are made aware of my production needs. I then follow up and send them my production rider i.e. the floor plan suggestions and the preferred stage, lighting and sound requirements. I encourage them to contact me directly if they have any questions, difficulties or compromises. To ensure they supply the right environment for me to work I also request they send me a copy of the floor plan and a copy of the running order for my acceptance... along with the phone number of the people doing the production. A week before the gig I double check on everything. My music is played from an iPad using an app called Play on Cue. Philippa always does my sound cues. As a backup, my music is also on my HTC phone using an app called Live Cues. It’s also kept on CD and also on mini disc. I always take with me to every gig, 30 metres of line with a 3.5 plug for the iPad, and another 30 metres of normal lead (line level) that ends with a jack. I also carry every connection known to man to go from a jack to XLR cannon to 3.5 etc. For smaller gigs I hire my own stage & production equipment (with an operator) from a few different small time production companies who give me a nice discount. For real small gigs for perhaps less than 50 pax, maybe more depending on the room or environment, I have my own little self-contained sound system that I take with me. Dave Lord put me on to it. It’s a MIPRO MA-708 and has all the options and everything that I need. I prefer to always use a hand held radio mic and I also prefer to use the mic holder that Dave Lord markets http://www.davelordsmagicworks.com.au/ac......ies.html as it allows me greater freedom for the purpose of stage cueing. Hope this info helps. |
