Just watched Chris Westfall's version of cigarette thru quarter. He has an interesting routine, but at the end he removes the cigarette and visually heals the coin. (Belanger and Spellbound Move.) Do you thing visually removing the cigarette from a Belanger is apt lead spectators to the solution, even with a spellbound move immediately after. I am considering removing the cig from the Belanger and saying of course that's how it's done and then using a spellbound move to ring in a Johnson and do a visual penetration and removal. I wonder if that is getting too convoluted and maybe I'm over thinking things. Any thoughts.

Hey there,
over thinking man! When I heal, its like an accidental heal of the coin. I borrow the coin at at the end, I say "let me rub the ash off for you" then it restores, I say " dsamnit...... I rubbed too hard" and hand it back. If you can find more coins or even make them yourself you can always hand out as a memorabilia. do this at a club or on a patio and people will go crazy, 2 and 3 years later ppl ask me about this trick! enjoy its easy and strong. ps. I was never a fan of the johnson coin, this practical, exciting and magical.... with FIRE!! I made this video when I was 20 yrs old to take in... enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAxbjAAk44o |

Thanks Chris. Love the DVD. It isn't often that a DVD has some many usable items. Oh and on your switch for the gimmick, I've learned all of the "deceptive" switches out there, but some times the simplest is the best. Especially with crossing the gaze, it goes right by everyone. I think Don Alan talked about the switch he used and said anything more advanced is a waste of a good move.

Chris Westfall,
Nice quick routine for a coin penetration, especially with the coin you use. Really like the handling, so did your spectators you cold tell by the reactions. Thanks for posting. John

On the New York coin magic seminar DVD volume 6 I have a routine where a signed bill goes through a quarter. Uses the Johnson gimmick, more useful nowadays then a cigarette, and the routining takes the heat off the coin.
S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

This is a nice routine. I use Dave Williamson's handling. Maybe a combination of the two ideas would be good. I simply use a quarter with a hole in it, which would lend itself to combining this handling with Dave's ending.
I think that if you are in a situation where people are already smoking, like a bar, this handling is great. If people are already smoking, why not take advantage of the situation? KJ |

Chris,
I just watched the video link from above. Your handling back then looks similar to Dave's handling at the end. I like that handling! Very nice! KJ |

Brilliant idea. One of those "Why didn't I think of that" things.
