Hey there,
a while ago I came across the Gozinta Box effect again and it falls beautifully into place with something that I'veb een working on lately. Upon researching the effect I have not come across a version that I particulary like, so I figured it might be best if I made an own set. Does anyone know if there's an explanation of the principle available for purchase somewhere? I'm thinking a written description on how to make them. Alternatively (if there's no written description available), if I bought a set somewhere, would I be able to recreate them? Would the principle be self evident once I played around with a set of the boxes? I've never had them, so I wouldn't know. Thanks already for your help people, all the best, T.

If you buy a set first, you will quickly understand the principle. You should do that anyway.
The measurements can then be resized according to your needs. Just be sure that you consider the thickness of the materials used because you must take into account both inside and outside dimensions. Check this recent thread... http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......&forum=8

Here is a nice version of the gozintabox, updated with a different design, though a bit expensive. Don't know if you have seen this one.

99.99 for a cardboard box !!! A bargain.

The price is a bit high, but I love the design and the logic. Good stories could be conjured up for the prop. I think the effect has too much potential to be pigeon-holed as a puzzle, like is so often the case, and exactly how it was presented in the demo video. Boo.
Also, calling it a collector item is a bit of a stretch.

I still can't see how anyone can justify the price tag for a cardboard prop (box) that with a little work you could make yourself.

Most magician's I know would be incapable of making this prop and having it come out looking as good as this one is. The material is also coated so it is moisture and stain resistant. So, properly taken care of, it should last for years. So the $99.00 price tag isn't all that unreasonable when you take all of that into consideration. But then one pays what one thinks a prop or routine is worth. To me this is worth $99.00 simply because it would cost me more in time and materials to construct this and have it come out looking this good.

Hi,
I have developed a Gozinta Box Construction Kit which can be used to create your own props. Go to www.magicperspectives.net/gozinta-boxes and download the pdf file which includes instructions. Simply print, cut, fold and glue. Peter Prevos www.magicperspectives.net |
