Ronsonol lighter fluid will loosen it up. Use an old toothbrush or wooden toothpick to clean it out. Avoid scraping it with metal.

Agree with Jazzy. Don't use metal. A toothpick or a rigid piece of plastic. Rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover should
help loosen it first. |

Acetone with dissolve and loosen it faster than lighter fluid.

Sounds like good advice, though I've scraped mine out with an Xacto knife. Solvent + toothpick sounds much gentler.
I've since vowed never to have to deal with it again by using elastic cord instead of a rubber band. |

I too use a sharp pointed Xacto knife with great results. The trick is to use the point to pick out the rubber fragments and then clean
the recess. I have done it for years with the same coin and it doesn't seem to be harmful. Be careful though and don't perform surgery on your fingers. -Bob |

For the Lassen gravity flippers with the thin groove inside, I use a piece of automotive shim stock. About .014 is good. The ends are usually rounded, so just cut one end off perpendicular so that you have a nice 90 degree corner that goes into the groove. If the shim is near the width of the groove, it will clean it out much better than an exacto or other mis-shaped object. Then, as suggested above, acetone is your best friend. After that, a playing card to finish inside the groove, if anyone has any of those.

Thanks for all suggestion .. I try to use lighter fluid , but still cannot remove all the stuff inside the groove.
Still have some dried out band remain inside the groove. |

Try soaking it overnight in nail polish remover.
I'm with Inigmntoya. I'll never use a standard flipper again. The ones Mark Mason sells (made by Bob Swadling) are virtually unbreakable. Only problem is the edge isn't milled, so for some this is a step down from a Lassen or Schoolcraft flipper. But, it never breaks. Robert |
