I strongly recommend Paul Prater's supplement to Year Book... "Seniors".

Yearbook is now controlled by Gemini Artifacts. We might issue it again in the future. I do have a seniors add on in stock though.

Thank you Vic.
I'm certain a re-issue would sell very well. |

On Sep 27, 2017, 252life wrote: Oh I am sorry I missed the request from a year ago. In case anyone still has Yearbook on their shelf and is looking for what to do with it - this is what I did. First of all, my performances are parlour performances. Never more than 12 people (enough that can sit around a table). For this performance I asked two of the sitters to see me before the session. I handed them the yearbook and said, simply, that it was misprinted yearbook from long ago. I asked them to sit down together and flip through it and take any notes of things they found weird or wrong with it. I gave them a good 30 mins though they didn't need it. They later said they found the book creepy when they flipped through. The two took their notes and and gave back the book. I asked them to not mention a word of this to the other sitters until after the performance. When it came time to perform the Yearbook section of the show, I told a story I made up about the murder (I tied it to the theme I had in the evening of woman being mistreated and witchcraft etc). So I told the story about the student murdered while the Yearbook was away at the printers. I did not give any details at this point about the murder. I then said I got the book online and this was a local legend from a small town in the US. The legend was the Yearbook had a message from the murdered girl. I explained it is probably nothing but people retrofitting a message, but, I explained, I tried the experiment myself. I told the room about the two people who looked at the yearbook and took notes. So it was time to see if we thought the Yearbook did have a message. I asked someone to read the article about the murder, and I asked the two note takers to listen carefully in case they heard anything in the article that related to the notes they took. As the article was read aloud, the note takers started freaking out. The rest of the group were freaking out about the note takers freaking out. When the article was finished the note takers showed their notes. There was the names of the victim, the murderers, the murder weapon. It was all there. This HAD to be a message from beyond, someone offered. I took a few moments to let the group look through the book. Some refused. It was so much fun. |

To be totally up front, Yearbook is more of a prop than an effect. It does not come with hits the way a book test or Dopps does. It is a prop with a news story (and I think it only works if you have the news story - or make your own). From there the routine is yours to create. If you prefer to have the routine and a manual then it is not for you. There is some homework.

Excellent work Bartleby, I absolutely love your routine. I have year book but never used it. I have been sitting on it waiting for an idea I like. Thank you!

Bart thx for the excellent lead-in for this prop. Never used it. Now I might. Just gotta think why & how. Besides Prater's add-on, I found items such as an actual old patina G.H.S. wooden football icon made in shop class and an old decaying skate club pin. I also have both of the 2 variations of the newspaper clipping. My only regret is the aging of the yearbook: done in the classic O.E. style of "dipping it in the toilet".. way too much water damage. Still... pretty cool item.
