The method for this , if used without the glowing red light is still a solid viable option to doing a coin bend. Especially when compared to the $300 to $ 400 benders. It will get the job done and without the cost and large amount of apparatus necessary . It may not be the solution for everyone, but it is a solid doable solution.

Maybe it wouldn't fit in with your presentation, that's fine. Just because you have a different opinion doesn't make this a "stupid idea". Both Tim Trono and Rick Lax have excellent reputations and there is no need to accuse them of trying to make a "quick buck". Terry |

Penguin still has this on sale for $19.95 (marked down from $30). The gimmick alone sells for the same price so it's like getting the instructional video for free. A great deal!

Also...as far as the main detractor on this thread, it has since been brought to my attention that he has a personal agenda against somebody involved in the project. No surprise there. I mean, this is a solid deal that has gotten all good reviews from verified purchasers, and, yeah, it's a shame that somebody with a personal agenda (that has nothing to do with the trick BLACKSMITH) was able to hijack the thread. That's how it sometimes goes here, I suppose. |

I have had a chance to Perform this in the ral, world, the good news is. It is very east to do and people get fiedmwhenntheynsee the glow and I react to the "heat"
The negative is minor but worth noting, if you do strolling gigs, the reset is super easy , but you need a second of cover to do it, in other words, doing it on the fly with people around, will require a tiny bit of trial and error. Overall, this beats out the multi hundred dollar gimmicks. So far les to,carry and far less to spend . Rick also shows many valuable tips and subtleties , one impressive move is after the heat glow, placing the coin in the specs hand and this is where the bend happens. |

Hi everyone,
My version of Blacksmith has now been added. If you visit the link at the end of this post my version is video #2. My handling has also been added for those that purchase Blacksmith. Now let me say this for the record. At first I was not a fan as I felt the idea of a red glow coming out of the hands before the coin bend kind of lead to the idea that something in the hand may be helping with the bend, makes sense right. I worked really hard to streamline the handling and make it as a direct as possible, to make the hands look as clean as possible too. What I ended up with is a routine that made me fall in love with Blacksmith and I can say with no hesitation that it is something I will do. I am not suggesting this routine would be great for mentalists, I feel that would be silly but I do feel it's a great magic piece and kind of bridges the gap with just the right amount of super hero. One last point after watching the video. The light is seen quite a few times in the demo but the part I love the most is the flickering glow on my face as though looking into the burning embers as a Blacksmith really would. In a real world performance I would suggest trying just this moment as the moment when the burning light is seen, kinda cool and kinda theatrically spooky!!! And that's why I love this because it's a theatrical piece that (I believe) leaves a lasting impression. The handling also ditches the method beautifully and you are left totally clean. I really hope you enjoy my handling and performance and for those that know the method I will say that the gimmicks supplied are far superior making the handling work flawlessly and making this something I can also now do during the day to great effect. I just watched Matts handling which is very impressive and I really like it. What I'm disappointed in his he claims that if you purchase this now you get two gimmicks and I bought it when it first came out and I only received one gimmick and I hope that penguin does the right thing and sends me a second gimmick. I will keep you posted if anyone else only received one please let us know.

I emailed penguin immediately after my last post I already received a reply that my missing gimmick is on its way. Now that is amazing customer service especially since today is Sunday.
Special thank you to Gayle at penguin. Dave |

Just a quick underscore of Penguin's customer service. Gayle has helped me out several times with a level of courtesy and promptness that's downright magical.

I wasn't complaining I was stating fact re read it and then comment .
Then take notice of my second post thanking them for being so fantastic. They would never have got it right if I hadn't sent them an email in the first place. Why don't you stick the things that you know about rather than assume it makes you look foolish . |

I didn't have to assume anything. You came here and complained first before sending an email, you said it yourself. Now you realize that it makes you look like a drip because that's not how things should be handled so you're trying to reframe it. Good luck with that. It's completely okay to admit a mistake and say, "Yes, I should have handled that privately before complaining on a public forum." It doesn't make you look weak. Although getting all uppity and defensive about it certainly does. |

I will argue with you all day long because I feel you keep embarrassing yourself more and more and getting yourself in deeper and deeper with the subject you know nothing about you obviously don't read but love to speak and hear your own words.
Your massive education is showing through so nicely, please for the sake of all of us teachers more of your ramblings and how good you are quoting. But still obviously haven't read my two posts. We can continue this argument or we can have a beer and get to know each other little bit better. Of course the words I choose will not be perfect as I am not nearly as well educated as you are. Thank you Professor. And thank you for letting me know that free-speech and opinions and facts are no longer allowed on this forum. |

It wasn't a question of "free-speech and opinions and facts" no longer being allowed on this forum. Although I appreciate you trying to change the subject. I'm just talking about courtesy. Let's say you sold me something on here and I had a problem with it and my FIRST course of action was to complain about it here (or not "complain" by your definition, but to express my disappointment about it here, let's say). I think you'd agree that's kind of an a-hole thing to do. yes, I realize you came back to update your post, but only because they were able to address your situation so quickly. If not it would have lingered here for days potentially. That rapidity with which you made your follow-up post only goes to prove my point. To be clear, I don't think you're a bad guy or a prick or anything. I just know that mistakes happen and I don't love the culture of making things a public issue before giving people a chance to fix things privately. That's all. You obviously disagree, and that's okay. We have different opinions about it. But you seem to be more interested in attacking me than either acknowledging or defending your actions so I'll give you the last word so you can do that again and then people can get back to discussing the trick. I'm glad you got your issue sorted out. |

I'd like to have my teacher kick you in the nuts because you're such a fool you keep rambling on and on about a topic that you obviously still have not read. You want to prove to the community how smart you are with your words well you've done a wonderful job of doing that. But you've done a horrible job at replying to the actual topic as I did. After this I will not reply to your nonsense ever again and I apologize the community for this boring battle. I do want it on record that I think you are a prick. And to your last comment, I am working for the community by alerting them to issues has many many have in the past that's what we do here we help each other we alert to each other. And we apologize when we are wrong and we praise those the treatise properly. As I did above which again you never read. |

It appears we all drifted a little of track there. Thanks Baldini, I am glad you enjoyed my handling and also happy that everything got sorted out for you. I love working with Penguin Magic as they really do care about their customers and about delivering great magic which is also important to me too.
The video is the 1st video and not the 2nd (oversight on my part). Here is the link: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/5293 Thanks everyone. MJ |
