Dear Harrison:
My first in depth view with the tradeshow world was becoming acquainted with Dick Ryan in the early 1990's. He was such a kind gentleman who gave me his tradeshow books, and a autographed photo etc. Did you know him and was he a influence on you? Are the basics still the same now as then?(meaning hours of the magician working the floor, the objectives of the exhibitor, prospect companies to target etc? Dick Ryan shared some insights at that time with me. I just know the 1st client to get is very challenging! Don |

Hey Don
Yes. I knew Dick very well. He was an influence on me in this regard. He made me aware of the importance of looking professional and treating everyone with dignity. He and I worked many, many shows together. He was one of the Founding Fathers in the business and he had a long and fruitful career. When he left the business he left a hole. |

I think a lot of guys are like that. After all it is a business. It is our business - no different from the local insurance office, law office, ice cream stand, etc. As Anton Zelman used to say, "Too many magicians conduct themselves like magicians rather than business people.
