I have searched through the forums and haven't been able to find an answer to my question. I am looking to produce a match that emits a flash and a shower of sparks. We have all seen this effect before. I attempted to make my own matches using rubber cement and applying sparkle additive, but the results are barely giving me a single flicker.
Am I using the wrong stuff, or should I take another approach entirely? I would gladly buy premade matches if they were available.

Try painting fingernail polish just onto the head of the match and part way down the stick..
Then, while the polish is still wet, dip it into the additive.. When it's dry, you will have a sparkle match! You can also try to put some sparkle additive into a small strip of flash paper, fold it up so the sparkle additive is trapped inside the flash paper, then either wrap that around the match or tie it close to the head of the match.. When you light it, the flash paper will help super heat the sparkle additive giving you a nice pop of sparkle.. Better than just trying to light the powder with an open flame. Good luck! |
