I just got back from a trip to Las Vegas and of course saw some magic acts...Over the last few years, I have seen most of the larger Las Vegas Magic Shows. I enjoyed all of them (but I love magic so hard not too), but to different degrees. So, I thought I would rank them in the order of my favorites.
1. Penn and Teller - Incredible entertainers, highly varied show that keeps you on entertained throughout with many types of magic 2. David Copperfield - good entertainer and master illusionist 3. Mac King - almost no production value, but great comedy and a very skilled magician - just lots of fun (cheap too) 4. Jan Rouven - all illusions and a new show in a new theater, entertaining 5. Criss Angel - baffled by this show, incredible production values and a great theater, the show is all over the place with no focus and lots of bathroom humor for some unknown reason, criss performs some nice illusions but doesn't connect well with the audience 6. Nathan Burton - tries hard, has some interesting illusions, good value Anyone else care to share their opinions, or have seen some other of the shows? |

Lol I just got back from vegas last night. Saw Copperfield and thought he was great, great Illusionist and performer. Saw Mac King yesterday at Harrah's and thought he was unbelivable. The thing about king is that he is so darn skilled he makes the impossible seem so easy. People who are not magicians don't realize how hard some of these seemingly easy feats look.
Other cool things, my wife got picked for Copperfield floating rose trick and he asked for a kiss on the cheek and then gave her a rose he made appear. I also talked with Mac King after his show and asked about some of his favorite Books on magic. He was incredibly down to earth and nice. Love that guy |

I was in Vegas a month ago, and been there a few times before. In those times, I saw Penn and Teller: a funny and talented duo. Also The Mentalist . That was an excellent mind boggling show. Murray Sawchuck's show at the Planet Hollywood is a great show jam packed with lots of great stage magic. Haven't seen Mike Hammer or Mac King yet. They're both on my must see list next time I'm in Vegas.

FYI, Matt Franco, winner of season 9 America's got Talent, has a new show at the Linq. Haven't seen it yet, but curious to check it out next time I'm in Vegas.

Slim I agree. His show is one of the best if you want to see a mentalist perform. I caught his act after he opened a couple weeks at the Stardust some years ago. I can only imagine how great he has become since moving from there. Sadly to say there were only 15 to 20 people in the audience and everyone got their chance to participate. One routine of his fooled me badly. I hope to catch him again next week while I'm out there.

I've seen several of the Vegas shows.
1) Copperfield is my favorite, as he was one of my childhood heros. I've been up on stage with my brother, and got a very light,( like a pool player's) high five once. Boy, that really made my day. I'm not a huge fan of his "outer space" routine, but I think everything else is gold. 2) Angel is awesome, and a high production show. Very loud, tho didn't hurt my ears. That was magical also! 3) I've also seen many buskers that have made my day. |
