Hello magic friends,

First of all, I hope that my post is in the correct section.
Most of you that deal with mentalism effects may know the Tele-Vision effect.
See here: http://www.magicshop.ch/tele-vision.html [German only]

"Objects are given in five identical unprepared bags, which can be assigned to the audience later again."
I used this trick for several years and I saw at a magic show a new version of that effect.

Trick routine:
There are already 4 objects on the table: a plastic duck, a can of Redbull, a self-defense bar and a Rubik's Cube
These items are covered by a plate (front and side) on the table.
4 people from the audiance are asked to assist.
The mentalist is in front of the table and looked from the stage into the audience.
All 4 volunteers have got identical black bags.
Everybody goes now individually behind the table and takes one of the 4 objects.
As soon as the first volunteer is finished, the mentalist pushes him even an envelope in the other hand.
No one from the audience or the mentalist himself ever saw which volunteer took which object.
The mentalist is still in front of the table and looks further into the audience.
All 4 volunteers hold the bag with the object behind their backs.

So far so good - and now it comes.

Without looking at the bag of volunteers, the mentalist knew exactly who took what object.
After the last item has been properly called, and taken out of the bag, one of the volunteers
opens the envelope.

Inside is a photo of the Rubik's Cube (that subject that the volunteer has chosen voluntarily)
and on the back was the text:

"Approximately 80% who take the Rubik's Cube are males - [audience was male]
"Approximately 50% who take the Rubik's Cube are between 65-80 - [audience was 75]
"Approximately 30% who take the Rubik's Cube are wearing a blue shirt - [spectators had a blue shirt]
"But only 1%, who take the Rubik's Cube" have the name Günter - [volunteers name was Günter]

A wonderful performance.

Apart from the last part, does someone know this routine?
Is it from the trick principe similar to "The Dwarfs by Stefan Olschewski"
Is that trick explained somewhere? Books, DVDs?
And what do you think about in general about.

This looks like a copy of the Ken Brooke Trick "Second Spot by Maurice Fogel". That is most likely it is only available in Germany, they do not have the rights to sell it.

Stevens Magic has the Ken Brooke rights to sell his products in the U.S.

Nick Lewin released his version a while ago.

That looks like the Trick that I already have. But in the routine I explained, the mentalist doesn't open or even touch the bags at any time. The volunteers also take the objects out of the bag again.

The way I'm looking for is to find out who has the objects given before, WITHOUT looking or touching the bag. It's possible somehow. Any ideas?

As you select each spectator from the audience, each person is selected one at a time (not all at once), have the bags stacked on a table. Tell each to take a bag, then direct them to move to a certain spot on stage. Without direct spectator control, I see no other way to even use this method for this effect.

Many tricks have been spoiled buy trying to "improve" them.

Personally, I love the effect as given, and I love the dollar gag as explained in the instructions, it turns a mental effect into pure entertainment. Much of this effect is the interaction with each spectator, making it fun for each and very personal to each.

I also like the suggestion to have a box of all kinds of different objects, as they could be funny joke items, and describing them could be very funny.
