I've searched and searched, and I can not come up with effect descriptions. Can someone please be kind enough to list a partial or full list of effect descriptions, or point me to a place that has them? I'm mainly interested in the gambling work of the book, but any descriptions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Craig

Hmmmmm, I'm not sure if it has gambling effects. It has been awhile since I read it.

I saw on a table of contents that there was a gambling routine, false deal work, and false shuffle work....I hope that was correct.

Yea, there is definitely false deal and shuffle work. I'm blanking on the gambling routine. If a table of contents says that, then there must be one. The majority of stuff are sleights and regular magic though.

There's one gambling routine in the book. It's basically an effect where you repeatedly deal yourself poker hands in more difficult circumstances. And there's a kicker ending where you show that the whole deck is in order, despite shuffling it, and showing the deck face up (shuffled) in the middle of the routine.
There is an 'interval' section with a false riffle shuffle, and his takes on the shift etc. I think there's also a memory effect in the same chapter as the gambling routine, which you might also find interesting. However, all of the material in the book is excellent, and I'm sure that you would take something away from this book anyway! I'll write a slightly more detailed description later, but I'm off out now. _______ Ben |

Here's a brief description of all the gambling routines in DRD (sorry, too lazy to go through rest of book):
A Gambling Routine: Also explained in 'Routines,' this routine starts with a simple ace cutting demonstration, whereas the performer cuts to each aces indivisually, with the last ace being found via an indicater card. Then the performer demonstrates the chop shuffle to stack the four aces, then dealing out rounds of cards to show that the performer has indeed recieved the four aces. A simple Bottom Dealing demo follows, again dealing cards out, then a center dealing demo, dealing cards out. Then a simple stacking phase where the performer inserts the four aces in the deck and deals out rounds honestly, receiving the aces. Climax of the trick being that although the deck has been shown randomly mixed at various points in the routine, the deck is now shown to be in numerical order. A More Light Hearted Routine: a simple ace cutting demonstration. After first ace is cut to, the performer uses a hankerchief to further increase the difficulty in cutting to an ace. Alas, three of the aces are located and it then goes into a simple triumph routine which is explained briefly (as it is not Hollingworth's) to locate the last ace. A Call to the Colours Routine: As the title suggests, this is a version of Bill Simon's Call to the Colours, where the performer deals out pairs, triplets, quadriplets, or singles according to the spectator's will. The kicker being that each suit, although shown randomly mixed, is dealt out in perfect numerical order. A little too drawn out and long in my opinion. Cheers
