Any other stands for figures out there other than Al Good and Axtell SitStand?
Something on the lighter side, preferably black, and affordable? Anybody made their own? From a ligh stand, etc.? |

Look up 'instands'..
They have a few options for lightweight stands.. Google them. They are meant for laptops, but they work great for stage stands.. |

Instands are great for magic, but it takes two hands to adjust the height. They aren't made for vent, so they aren't one-handed. They might still work for you depending on what you need.

I always set up the height I need for my puppet before the show.. So I don't see the need for a one handed stand..
Just wondering where you get a one handed stand anyway? Most stands have some adjuster on them that require both hands.. But if a one-handed one exists - I would be curious about it.. Thanks! |

You can buy a one-handed mic stand from any music store (Sam Ash, Guitar City, etc.). Then make your own prop table, put a flange on it and attach it to the one-handed mic stand.
You can buy the flange and prop table here. http://www.creativemin.com/category/accessories/1 But you can also buy a flange at any hardware store. I'm not a ventriloquist. I just hang out with ventriloquists, so I don't actually have one of these tables, but most of the people around here use one-handed stands. I'm not familiar enough with InStand to know if you can attach one of those tables to a mic stand. If you get the height right before you bring your puppets out, you can use the regular two-handed type. |

Thanks Karen..
The only think about having to rig a mic stand is the weight. I usually fly to all of my shows and every pound makes a difference in not having to pay excess bag fees every time I fly.. The instances are great as their light weight options are indeed lightweight! |

If it's a regular mic stand, you could tell the venue that they have provide it. Most venues have mic stands. And you just provide the pro table top. But there is always some risk in that. You might want to just stick with what you are doing.
The InStands definity are very lightweight. |

The choises of a light weight stand are only from a music stand or a small camera tripod. And both have a black color. Then try to figure out how to attach a small table on it.
Good luck! |
