A report on the
Simsalabonn e.V. facebook page reports that Erhard Liebenow passed away on February 4, 2016. Liebenow was famous for his routines with poker chips, but he also performed platform magic occasionally with canes and linking rings. The report--in German--can be read at: https://www.facebook.com/simsalabonn/pho......&theater Here's a translation of the report: -----quote----- On 4 February our magic friend Erhard Liebenow passed away. The news of his death saddens us greatly. Erhard was a friend and member of the Bonn chapter for many years. He was the president from 1981 to 1983. His specialty was “Cards, Coins and chips.” He published articles in many magazines like _GENII_, _Magie_, _Masgische Welt_, and _Linking Rung_. Erhard performed at the annual Bonn Magic Week with his incomparable magic and his memorable style in presenting the art of magic. We will miss this master of the art of magic—a good friend and valued colleague. Our thoughts are wtth his family. We will miss him. ---end quote----- I had the pleasure of meeting Liebenow at a magic convention in North Carolina in the early 1970's and visited with him and his wife at his home in Bonn, Germany in 1974. There is also a report on the Magischer Zirkel Deutschland webpage: http://www.mzvd.de/mzvdnews/details/2016......ben.html ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

Very sad. I have recently put together a collection of his booklets and props for his various chip routines. He came up with many clever concepts using these props. Would have loved to have seen him do them live. RIP Liebenow.
