Hi All,
I have seen a lot of discussion on this forum on Egg bags but only passing reference to the Malini egg bag sold by Viking Magic. https://www.vikingmagic.com/product/egg-bag-malini/ I am looking for a better quality Malini egg bag in the $40 range. More expensive Hobson and Silk Legacy egg bags are reported to be great but they are out of my price range. Thanks in Advance |

I believe this is a newly offered item through Viking. So I have not opinion at this time.
If you want the one of the best that has stood the test of time. Then get the well established Danny Tong Malini made by his wife, Pauline Tong. http://magicbypauline.com/index.php?id_p......=product And if you don't have the Ken Brooke and Friends on The Malini Egg Bag, then grab this at the same time. http://magicbypauline.com/index.php?id_p......=product |

Viking Magic is well known for quality items. I cannot tell what fabric they used in its manufacture, so I cannot compare it specifically to other bags. You might consider writing to Viking and asking what the material is.
Lynette Welch uses 4 ply silk crepe de chine which is a luxury fabric and her higher price is justified by both the fabric and the quality of her sewing... Top notch on both counts! I too have made bags of either silk, rayon, or polyester. In each case, the fabric is a ribbed crepe, which is what works best for a Malini bag. If you want to PM me, I can describe the differences in fabric and prices. I can offer a polyester crepe, dark green bag that has met with approval on the forum for $45.00 with free domestic shipping. In any case, the differences in various Malini bags by different manufacturers is of less importance than a well rehearsed and well thought out presentation!

I still have my Malini Egg Bag from Ken Brooke that I bought from him in 1978. And it's been all round the world twice! It's that good.
