I think my writing style has improved although it is still the same conversational style with lots of humour. I think the humour is better in volume 2 with some real belly laughs. I really like the content, there are some things that I would rather hold back longer but there comes a point where you have to publish before somebody has the same or a similar idea. Like in the first book this is all practical audience tested material. Other than tears of laughter this one shouldn’t make anyone cry. Mark |

Very nice 5 star review of Harpacrown in this months Vanish magazine. However if you are tempted by the review you need to be aware that the review is of the Collector’s Edition not the Standard Edition as implied by the introduction.
The conclusion of the review is: "This book is filled with real gems and is highly recommended for anybody who performs mentalism. There is something for everybody from close-up style performances to stage presentations. " -Paul Romhany, *Reviews Vanish Magazine Mark |

Received this from Dan Manson that he gave me permission to share.
Mark, I’ve had Harpacrown on my nightstand for some time now. Man it’s been a crazy year! Came down with a cold on Christmas Day, still recovering. But the good news is that I was able to finally to read Harpacrown from start to finish while resting n bed. It’s a book like no other. Not just tricks, but great essays on a variety of topics and a very interesting and personal family history. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it! Your approach to some effects rekindled my interest in effects I’ve dropped. One specific area was Kioku and center tears. I learned a version of Kioku from a Scarne book and had changed the cards to suit my style. But the procedure felt like fishing and the misses seemed confusing in the effect. Similarly, tearing up a billet after they were asked to put something in writing never really made a lot of sense to me. Your approach, and the amount of magic mileage you get out of how you approach these things together was really impressive. Anyway, just want to let you know how much I enjoyed your book and how it rekindled some effects in my repertoire. Wishing you a wonderful holiday sean and a prosperous new year! The collectors editions have almost all gone now. I still have about 80 standard editions left. For Harpacrown 2 I am considering only doing a collectors edition as this has proved far more popular than the standard edition. Mark |

This is another book that will never leave my bookcase. Very proud and honored to have a small nod in the book and to count a Mark as a phenomenal jam partner from time to time.

The collectors edition is still available from most dealers. It is also available from me directly. They do come up second hand from time to time but not very often.

@RedDevil,
That's sad that it's never going to leave your bookcase, they're beautiful, yes, but they're a great read as well. Dave |

Haha, yes. I must revise this to say it will never leave my possession. It would be truly cruel to imprison it on my bookcase for eternity.

I was fortunate to find somebody here in the books sales forum a few days ago selling the Collectors edition of 1 and Too.
Yes, I snatched them both. I just got them today, and I'm not even sure they were ever opened. Too came with the cards for 'Ophiuchus'. I've only read through to the start of The Chandaue Switch (now having to grab my Coin Magic and Bobo's) Now where did I leave my sports coat? Dave |

I got some footage of the Chandaue switch at Blackpool that shows how it looks in the real world (not that Blackpool could be classed as the real world).
https://youtu.be/1StUNDFBwOw The original Harpacrown is now on its third (and probably final) print run. I also have a handful of Standard Editions that I found when I moved from Essex to London. The Standard Edition will not be reprinted. Mark |

I figured the switch is so invisible you might think there was no switch. So here’s an example using contrasting coins. This isn’t the best example but it is good enough. You can see from my face at the end of the video that I am somewhat worse for wear.
I would never use the switch in this way for laymen. The beauty of this switch is its invisibility. https://youtube.com/shorts/JbogyuJjOeI?feature=share Oh and I forgot to mention last time that it can be examined by magicians Mark |

It’s an absolute brilliant switch Mark and the book is worth the price of that switch alone.
You smashed everyone with that at Blackpool it’s so dam clean and deceptive. Yes I think we were all worse for wear at that point as I think I was just briefly seen in that shot behind you. It didn’t effect your execution of the effect though it was superb Gaz.😊 |
