Just a little humor,

David, we also should ask, how old is the rubber band?

A flipper will fail you sooner or later.

Much much later, if at all if you don't use a rubber band.

Could you elaborate on this?

Loopback,
surely they are referring to the new non rubber, long lasting bands that
some manufacturers are putting on flipper coins. You could probably google this.
does someone else know what else they are called?

It's just called elastic thread , at least for the Tango flipper or bite out coins .

Sorry, you missed the mark with this one.

Guess I should have done into greater detail. The reference was to think about how to show the hand empty in order to enhance the effect.

Most coin thru table effects suffer (opinion) from placing a fist beneath the table rather than an open hand.
Responses to the mentioned effect indicate the power of this "show" as a convincer.

In using a shell and flipper or any other gaff one might ask how to handle the gaffs in a manner that allows for the empty display of the catching hand.

The only "mark" was to suggest making the effect more magical (Virtual Magic) for the observer. The gaff chosen is not the issue, nor is the type of table.

Each combination provides a new opportunity to be creative. I thought that is what you were after.

Yes, funsway,
I agree. I also agree with the other dude that we should stay right on topic. At the same time, by veering a little away from the exact
method, some of the best tips on the MC have been produced. For me, it is acceptable to have both direct answers, and slightly off the beaten
path type of answers as well.

Hey countrymaven, thanks for letting me know about craig's "split happens" the coins through table looks really good, as do the other routines.

Hey Kieran,
How kind of you to say that. I have used the move used, from "split happens" to show two coins, in the left hand for instance, and to lightly drop "one" right onto the surface
and then to vanish or do whatever you want with the "other" coin. It is just so deceptive, that I have never had anyone even suspect that a gimmick was used.

I have upped the ante and put the split coins on people's hands, then put it on their hands in the joined state, and have never had anyone even suspect a gimmick.
I do not mean I pass it out, I just find a way to use the split coin by setting it temporarily on their hand. So I have been blown away at how deceptive this is, along
with Petty's coins through table with a split coin. wish you the best!
