Has there been a palace revolt at the Blackpool Magicians Club ?

Derek Lever has apparently been removed as Convention Organiser and is no longer on the management committee ( http://www.blackpoolmagic.com/about/committee/ )

Intriguing.

Anyone have any further details if true ?

Isn't Derek in poor health? He said in a podcast that he may have to retire due to health reasons. That would explain it.

"poor health" or asked to leave due to unhappiness within the BMC ?

I'm sure the party line will be the former - reality more likely the latter.

The Blackpool Magic registrar advises:

"At the recent B.M.C. Annual General Meeting, it was decided by the members that the Convention will be run by a ' Convention Team'

Derek Lever is no longer on the committee of Blackpool Magicians'Club.
Each application to attend our Convention will be looked at by the whole committee."

So in theory Derek Lever's automatic bans are no longer in place. And confirmed on the BMC website:

"The Blackpool Magicians Club are pleased to announce a new look team for the 2017 convention. Derek Lever has now stepped aside and will be replaced by the new team of David Plant, Guy Barrett, Russ Brown, Russ Stevens and Mark Woodsford. "We would like to thank Derek for all of his tireless work over the years and look forward to an exciting era ahead".
