Awe Struck – Adam Elbaum

Product description : This is an interesting plot, which is a prediction of card named. It could be achieved with only an invisible deck or even a boon writer but the solution here is much more devious in my opinion. You ask a spectator to name a card they see in a deck (any card will work), you pull out your wallet and inside, there is a small post it note with the name of the card handwritten on it ! They can keep the post it if they want to.

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $50 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic « partner » shop !

What you get : You get a big cardboard box with a nice artwork cover on it. Inside, you will find the DVD explaining you in detail the routine and how to setup the wallet and the deck of cards, it's quite a long time process but you only have to do it once ! You get the wallet which is nicely made out of real leather, at least, it seems to be leather. You get the special deck of cards as well as enough post it to setup the trick. You can feel quality in every item of the package and for $50, this is quite a good value for money !

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :
- There is one big prep at the beginning which should take you 5 to 10 minuts
- You have to « modify » your wallet so it can work better, whish they did it before, I don't like receiving a half finished product unless it's written in the ad copy.
- You have to carry one wallet and one deck of cards in order to do the effect, you can't perform anything else with the cards so there is a lot to carry.

THE PROS :
- Everything is well made, the wallet should last a long time and it seems to be real leather. The cards are also specially made for the trick, they're not bicycle but they're fine.
- In my opinion, it much more stronger than an invisible deck or a boon writer because the prediction is actually hand written and inside your wallet ! It would have been impossible to do the same effect with the methods I told you.
- I think you can do the routine the way you want, with humor or a little bit more serious, it's up to you ! It's one of those trick you can be whether a serious mentalist or a magician who do some mentalism tricks.
- The reset is quick and easy to do, I wouldn't do it in front of the spectators.

Overall rating : It's a good trick, if you like the demo, you won't be disappointed, especially for the price, 3/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, you will have to learn some sleight of hands but nothing impossible, 3/5 stars.
