ABC has given a pilot production commitment order to "Deception," a magic drama from the producers of "Chuck" and "Blindspot." The crime-solving magician premise has echoes of Bill Bixby's Anthony Blake character from "The Magician," with more than a touch of "Now You See Me" thrown in.
Here's the premise: After a superstar magician’s career is destroyed by scandal, he brings his skills in deception to the FBI, where he works as the world’s first consulting illusionist, helping the feds solve crimes and catch criminals and spies. New York Times crossword constructor David Kwong (who you may know from his Ted Talk) will serve as a co-producer of the show.
