I have done this trick just twice, to amazing reactions.
I am a bit worried that eventually someone will ask to do examine the coin. I do understand that the heat is off the coin (I do a coin roll) and everyone wants to examine the bag, but I was wondering if anyone ever had this situation happen. What would you do in such a situation? |

Although I haven't performed this yet personally I would immediately follow it up with a single coin flurry and ditch or switch the coin via the flurry.

What coin do you use?. If it adheres on it's own use half the gimmick and a real coin or use a steel core coin and half the gimmick. After the penetration retain the gimmick while handing out the coin. Steel core should pass inspection. In Canada this works with every coin. In the US I believe steel core is required.

Thank you for the suggestions!
I use the Korean 500 won split coin. The Steelcore coin idea is amazing! I will be sure to try it out. |

I love this trick. My question is what do people do after it. It seems that it should be followed by a trick, otherwise why would you pull the coin out of the bag. It also seems to be a little silly to pull some coins out of your pocket if you kept one in a plastic bag.
I currently am doing a production of other coins. It's not interesting enough to explain, but it involves holding a half in finger palm in the hand that holds the bag. A shuttle pass ..... |

After I hand out the quarter (quick switch covers the dirty part) I reach in my pocket and ditch the gaff while pulling out a small coin purse with 3 other quarters (and a little something special) to go right into "Imagination Coins". It is way simpler to get by with than people are making it seem. They are looking at the "quarter" and the bag with a penny in it while you are getting your next effect ready. NOTHING looks weird or out of the ordinary to a spec.

I found it to be a shame to just put it in your pocket without using it more. I realize that their are DVDs with a lot of good effects, but most of them require more coins. I always found it weird that one would be in a bag while the other were just sitting in my pocket or in a purse. I realize that I'm overthinking this, but I still wonder what people do with the coin after they pull it through the bag. I also think that, at some time, you should use the penny for something. I'm looking forward to hearing some great ideas. |

I use it along with Nest of Wallets and also QB2... seems to flow pretty well and you get to leave them with a signed souvenir after the coin bend.

Well I actually tried this out whilst at work today and finished the effect by supposedly making the coin penetrate into my wallet which allowed me to switch the gaff in a subtle way.
The effect went down really well and the spectator was so interested in checking out the bag that I could have very easily switched the coin for an elephant and I don't think he would have noticed. This got me to thinking though has the spectator ever asked if you can get the coin back into the bag again and if so how would you deal with it ? |

As soon as I extract the coin, I place it right into their hand, for just a second or so, then I take the coin and drop the bag into the same hand. At that point, I can just flash the coin, showing both sides and go to my pocket with it. Placing the coin into their hand for a moment, takes a lot of the heat off the coin, since why would you place a gimmicked coin into the spectators hand. At the point I take the coin and give them the bag, this changes their attention to the bag. It's these small touches that throws the spectator off. Of course they are not consciously saying "He wouldn't put a gimmicked coin in my hand" any more than they are thinking "Oh, now I have the bag, let's forget about the extracted coin." They are not consciously thinking this, but unconsciously, that's the steps that their brain goes though, in an instance. |
